How do you get Nominations??

Hello, my name is Randy Smith jr. and i will be a upcoming junior this year at Minor High School. I plan to matriculate to USAFA, but i want to get a head start on things. It would be great if someone can address how i can get nominations. Thank you!

You cannot apply for/receive a nomination until you are a Candidate for the USAFA. When it does come time you would look on your Senators' and your MOC's website and look under the Service Academy Nominations section, where you should find more information and what needs to be completed.

Actually, I think you have your terminology incorrect.

To apply for a nomination is simple...you write to your Members of Congress (both Senators and Representative) and request a nomination.

That's it, in VERY simple terms. There's more to it, but that's really all that is required to "start" the process.

Now...when, etc...etc...is more involved. Spring of your junior year is when you start all this...as a new junior, you have time. You should focus upon:

a. Grades: nail them as high as you can
b. SAT/ACT tests: nail them too!
c. EVERYTHING ELSE!!

As a mod can you move this to the noms forum. It would be a shame that this thread gets lost in old pages on the AFA forum, when candidates applying to other SA's may never have seen this answer.

Every SA that requires noms. has the same process.
