When taking the ACT test, USNA requires that you take the ACT Plus Writing exam. The most recent time I took the exam, I earned an 11 out of 12 on the essay portion of the exam, but I didn't do so hot on the english/reading sections. Each time I take the exam, do I HAVE to take the Plus Writing exam, or since I scored well, am I able to just take the test without the essay and still have my scores count?

USNA superscores your tests — which means that if you take multiple ACTs, only your best scores from each section will be considered.
For example, if you scored a 20 in English and 24 in Math on one test and 24 in English and 20 in Math on a second test, what the admissions workers at USNA woukd be evaluating is a superscore of 24 in English and 24 in Math. So no, you don't have to take the writing section again. |

By Writing section do you mean the Essay portion of ACT?
