Default Banking

Not to be too anal, and udoubtedly there are more important things with BCT nearing, but has anyone received banking information--like an account number? Son signed up for direct deposit at orientation, but has not received one correspondence from the on campus bank. Thanks. Good luck to all at BCT. We at home will be pulling for you all each day....

I seem to remember my son receiving his banking information in the mail about 2 weeks ago. I am pretty sure it said his Aug pay will be direct deposited. I am almost sure that it also had his account number in the correspondence. I am not positive, but I seem to recall him saying that.

I would contact the bank for some of the basic information or just to check to see if the mail didn't get lost (unlikely - they're probably just really busy). You'll receive your Visa ATM card and credit card (if applicable) sometime during basic or the ac year, can't really remember. I think it was during basic.

Make sure they double check at Doolittle Hall on I-day. USAA and AFBank will have booths set up on the first floor.

On that note, it's nice to switch over to USAA after basic... they really take care of you.

I was wondering, what is the USAA? I have looked at their website, but I am still kind of confused on what they do/ what they can do for a cadet. I was debating whether to join them just for the car insurance and stuff.

Look on their website. They offer a large variety of banking and insurance products, buying services, as well as discounts.

I just happen to be a huge fan of USAA banking and insurance. We have had both since 1982. Retired military and they have followed us all over the world. My three favorite things they offer, car insurance EVERYWHERE!!!, rebates on ATM fees, and web deposits for checks (which means I do not have to have a local bank to cash my checks, I just scan them and USAA deposits it immediately into my account). I have never had an issue with the car insurance in all my years using them throughout Europe and the U.S. and the banking is fabulously easy whenever we have had to move (13 moves in 22 years). In my opinion, best bank ever!!!

All of the above is totally right on AND you can deposit your checks right off your cell phone ... I take a picture of the front/back of the check and deposit it ... it's awesome! Super easy and fast ... way better than driving to an ATM somewhere! The ATM fee's are waived too so you can get cash anywhere. I love USAA and we've had them for years and years and my folks had them before us. They are awesome. My cadet uses them too and loves them like the rest of the family. On top of that, the rebate/profit share or whatever it is check they send us is always a welcome surprise -though frankly, I don't really know why we get it. I just know it comes around Christmas - and is great! Can you tell we have been very happy with USAA?! Can't imagine why we'd ever choose to leave USAA.
