You should train to beat the PFT. There is no pass/fail with the PFA, but they look at it - assume it's like the PFT though.
For AFROTC I did 63 pushups in one minute, 60 situps in one minute, and 11:28 on 1.5 mile run (probably down to 9 or 10 something now - I did it in October and have kept running since).
Got a 3-yr Type II scholarship. Obviously there were other factors, and I know people with better scores than mine, but those are about the current
standards for the PFT (except the run). You should try to meet and exceed these if going AFROTC. Other branches have their own standards.

*Air Force is changing the test starting July, with I believe more emphasis on the run, so I suggest looking into it and being able to go past the standards. If you're going for a different service, then look on their sites and I'm sure you can find the standards somewhere.
One last tip, make sure you're doing everything correctly. I caught myself recently being able to do up to 80 pushups at a time but not going all the way up every time (which I attribute to trying to go fast, but either way it's a bad habit that needs to be broken). Correctly I'm back around 65, so I gotta boost that number up again.
If you're not doing an exercise correctly, they simply won't count it until you do - so you could do 100 pushups, but if you did 99 incorrectly, only 1 counts.
