The Band plays at Beat Retreat. Do they also play music for the football game? Do they have to change their uniforms before leaving the academy?

Last year, there was a little bit of music for scoring etc during the game. However the rain kept the woodwinds packed away.

If my aging memory serves, the band was in dress whites like everyone else for the game and in their band uniforms for Beat Retreat. For liberty, they wore the dress whites.

For their performance at Battery Park on Sunday (for Henry Hudson's 1609 voyage 400th anniversary) they wore the band uniforms in and changed into dress whites for liberty.

As an aside, you can enjoy watching an 18 year old wearing all white scan menus for a meal (I can't eat that....., No, that will make a mess.....,that might work)

Default New Band Co question

So if I understand correctly the band plays at Battery Park the Sunday morning of Parents weekend. And they need to leave the Academy rather early. So do band plebes get liberty Saturday evening or are they expected to stay at the academy so as not to be late Sunday morning?

I have a Regimental Calendar for Academic Year 2010-2011 from June 22, 2010 to July 7, 2011. Can't remember where or how I got it, however, this is the schedule that I see for Parents Weekend.

[U]Friday 3 Sept 2010/U]
Liberty commences for 1/c after last obligation
Acceptance Day/Parent's Day Weekend Commences. No Special Liberties Or Club TM's Except As Authorized By The Commandant.
Beat Retreat - O'Hara Hall (1930)

Saturday 4 Sept 2010
Liberty expires for 1/c at 0630
Formal Parade - Acceptance Day Parent's Weekend (Tomb Field at 0900)
Regimental March - On Tomb Field
Football (home) - Gallaudet at 1400
Waterfront - Parent's Weekend Open House
Liberty commences for 1/c, 2c and 3/c as announced
Liberty for Plebe Class at discretion of Regimental Commander after football game.

Sunday 5 Sept
Waterfront - Parent's Weekend Open House

Monday 6 Sept
LABOR DAY - HOLIDAY
Liberty expires for plebe class at 1800, 3/c at 1900, 2/c at 2000, and 1c at 2100.

Hope this helps and nothing changes. . . As I keep hearing on the forum, things can change.

CT2014parent, I'd say your DS is on the fast track to figuring "it" out and being a survivor. He seems to be catching on qucikly to the "roll with the punches... there is a way if you want it bad enough" KP mentality.
ANd you earned your KP parent gold star for staying out of it and TRUSTING him to find his own way.
