Question ARMY-NAVY Game, 2010

Ok...have my tickets ordered, flight booked and airport hotel reserved for THE MOST EXCITING weekend in Dec.
Can someone in the know help me with a few related questions concerning the BIG weekend ?

1. Staying in a PHL airport hotel....what are my transportation options on getting to the stadium Saturday morning( not sure if the hotel will offer a shuttle) ?....don't really want to rent a car. Assume a taxi could get us there but after the game they could be few and far between.

2. Hope to take a few Midn out to dinner after NAVY's victory Saturday night and probably need to be making a reservation sooner than later :
a) it's my understanding that after past A-N games Midn have been able to catch late night buses returning to USNA....is this a typical option for Midn ?
b) what "easy and accessible" public transport is available to downtown from the stadium area ?
c) finally, would appreciate some rec.s on good restaurants in nearby Philly area that 4-6 hungry and happy Midn would enjoy (perhaps a good steak place that has large sports TVs to see replays of the big NAVY WIN )
Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions !

GO NAVY beat AirForce and then ARMY

http://www.phillylovesarmynavy.com/FAQ

This is the official A-N game site. FAQs have some good scoop on transportation. We usually stay in a Centre City hotel and take the Broad Street line to the game, even though we usually have a parking lot pass. It's jam-packed afterwards, with everyone tired, but a fun atmosphere.

I think there is a variety of transport between PHL and downtown. Try both the SEPTA site and this one:

http://www.phl.org/taxis_trains.html

The Penn's Landing area, Old City, Centre City and Reading Terminal all have a variety of restaurants. There are the usual chains but also many wonderful places to eat at various price points. Since my husband's a native "fidelfian," we either check the Philly cheesesteak requirement after the game at his favorite place (will not name, because that will potentially spawn a thread about the merits of various steak establishments amongst the forum's fans) or treat ourselves to a special dinner.

I am sure current mid/cadet parents, current mids/cadets, can offer specifics on popular restaurant picks, as well as what the "bus deal" might be, what classes are required to use it, and what liberty options might be available. With a new Supe and Dant at Navy, there is no guarantee that what happened last year will happen this year.

Default hotel rooms booked

Anyone know of specific navy associated groups that have blocks of rooms in hotels? I went to make reservations at the marriott, and the courtyard by marriott but they've been sold out. this is where we usually stay. I'm assuming they've been held by certain groups, and wondering if other navy parents can book rooms thru these groups? Thanks.

Default This will be a tough year!

This is our third trip to the Army Navy Game in Philadelphia, and unfortunately due to the date changes, it is also being held during the National Microbiology Conference so rooms are at a premium! You are correct in assuming that attaching to a parents club may be your best bet in getting a room and at least on the army side, there is a ticket and lodging exchange site that people post rooms that they have available.

Other families have found good luck booking through
Name: Carlson Wagonlit Travel
Street: 626 Thomas Hall
West Point, ny 10996-
Phone: (845) 446-3966

We found no good transportation out to the hotels by the airport and there were no good courtesy shuttles. A taxi cab ride cost nearly $50!. Because of traffic, it took at least an hour to travel from the hotel to the game and even longer on the return.

Definitely take the subway from the game back into Philly--although crowded, it was fast and convenient.

Good Luck and Go Army Beat Navy!!!

Supportive Mom,

Try reaching out to the Parents Club for Central PA. Maybe they can help.

Default just scored rooms at sold out hotel!

check on line travel site, -------( rhymes with media). r-------- inn by m------- center city, right at city hall. hotel has been sold out forever, in fact all the ones around city hall have been basically sold out since the summer. $135-$150, friday and saturday nights. I called the hotel directly and they said that while they were sold out this web site had bought a block of rooms early on. All you mid parents who have yet to book rooms had better jump on this one! If your upperclass mids are driving themselves and going for the weekend, let them know. Awesome location.

Coming up on my 20th A-N game......

All in Phillie, except 2 in B-more......

We stay in Mount Laurel, NJ- Plenty of great hotels....Cherry Hill works also. Drive in (so rent a car)....plenty of parking at the stadium......so much easier....oh and don't forget to bring that cooler.....leave early enough to stop and grab something to eat pre game.

Stop at Tony Luke's on Oregan and stock up on some Roast Pork sandwiches and cheezesteaks...my wife loves their chicken parm.

We do the RV and grill all day....but we are only two hours away....

GO Army!
