I was wondering how bad a citation for damage to property would hurt your application. It is not on my record, but they say to mention things like that because every midshipman must undergo a background check. I got my application and this is something that is troubling me.

My application is very strong otherwise. 30 on ACT, 4.0, varsity letters, all-conference selection, cadet of the year, and superior cadet awards (x2).

Attitude is everything ---

I think if you are forthright and honest and prepared to discuss it that would go a long way. If it comes up and you have a chip on your shoulder and blame others then you would appear immature.

It is not necessarity the deed - but how you portray it that is key.

If USNA is what you want then don't worry about it hurting your application - it is over and done with and hopefully and isolated incident. Forge ahead and show that you have matured.
