Acceptance of Appointment

I just got my appointment in the mail a few days ago and i sent back the card with it that says I accept. I have a few questions about this. Will they contact me to let me know they received it? Also i have heard something about grey cards, what are they and when should I get them? Finally should my Candidate Portal change after I'm appointed because so far it hasn't. Thanks.

Have they updated your portal to say that you have been offered acceptance? When they do, the grey cards and instruction packet will be found there. When you accept, under where it says "Offered acceptance" it will say that you have accepted your appointment and the date

Good luck! There was a bit of a delay between when I got my appointment folder and the portal changed, but other people on this site have had the opposite happen (portal updated, no folder yet) so it really just happens to be when they have a chance to update it

wait wait...we're supposed to get an appointment folder? i got my appointment (the certificate and such) early in December but haven't heard anything since except what i have on the portal.

Other than peace of mind, what is the benefit to accepting an offer of appointment many months before the deadline?

You have many items to chase down and send in. The benefit is starting that early and sending it in...items like the background check, the eye doctor report, the dental records, etc...but mostly it's piece of mind. If you know you want it, just say yes so they can begin to get an accurate count of the class of 2015.

The appointment folder is the nice cover that the certificate of appointment comes is.....the big, fat envelope.

I thought the optometrist report was part of the DoDMERB physical and was done before you could accept an appointment?

I'm pretty sure this optometrist report is to be done by your family optometrist (as opposed to the one you had to go to for DoDMERB) and you just give him/her the forms you're given from WP to send in so they know your prescription for the glasses you may need to be issued for CBT.
