Need Advice about Waiver Process

Hi guys, I applied for a high school scholarship for AFROTC and I got one. I did my physicals and sent in the remedial for allergies. On the allergy form, I put down that I used to have a mild peanut allergy, but I have outgrown it. I can eat peanuts without having a reaction. I also sent a doctor's note saying that I have outgrown my allergy. I sent it in around June. When they received it, they did not disqualify me, and they asked me for medical records regarding a fractured toe I had. I asked the hospital to send the documents. They got it in around the end of July. I thought I had done everything and was all clear, but DoDMERB decided to disqualify me for my peanut allergy. I talked to the recruiting flight commander of my detachment, and he said there's nothing they can do about. I also contacted DoDMERB and they also said there's nothing they can do about and I have to wait 1-2 months for the decision. I don't have time to wait 1-2 months for a decision. I am really confused and shocked about this whole process, especially the fact that it took them 2 months to decide I was to be disqualified. In the meantime, I don't know if I should still do ROTC because ROTC is a big commitment and if I do do it and I don't get a waiver, then I'd feel like it was all for nothing. I would stick with ROTC, even by doing it for a short amount of time you will learn valuable life skills. You went through the painfull application process, I don't see why not. If you're still on the fence, I would do ROTC, wait the 1-2 months to get an answer from DoDMERB and then make your decision.

ROTC is a commitment, but also remember that ADAF is a bigger commitment. I would stick with ROTC for this time, but at the same time I would do a lot of thinking and soul searching about whether or not you are willing to give at least 4 yrs, 365 days a yr., wherever they send, whenever they send you, in any career field they send you in the AF.
