Default CVW status?

I just received a CVW. How much do these play into my chances of an appointment?

I have heard around 100 CVW's are sent out. But then again, this is the internet. Regardless I am very excited!

I already have a Presidential nomination, so I am really hoping for a big envelope in my mailbox...

As a general rule, CVWs are offered to highly qualified candidates so receiving one is considered a good sign. Conversely, as with LOAs, not being offered a CVW should not be taken as a bad sign. There are many fewer CVWs than there are offers of appontment and most successful candidates don't get CVWs.

While a very good sign, it is not a "sure thing" that an offer of a CVW means an offer of an appointment is forthcoming. Be optimistic, but realistic.

And, congratulations and have a great time!

I just received one for that weekend too! Does anyone know exactly what we do for the weekend? I really hope I can go, but I've got a few other prior committments I have to sort out first.

I'm going on Sept. 20-22nd as well! I'm so excited that I get to see the Yard again, I'm counting the days!

Funny story I thought I might share (while a little off topic). When I attended the National Youth Leadership Forum, I got a chance to visit the Naval Academy. While I was there, I promised myself that I would not step foot on Bancroft Hall's steps again unless I was at I-Day. I guess I'll be breaking that promise, but I think the CVW is an acceptable reason, right?

Sept. 20-22. I will see you all there! Perhaps pm me and we can try to get in touch either before or after?

Thank you USNA1985. It feels good to know not everyone has gotten one. How many usually go out?

No idea. In my day (a LONG time ago) there was less than one candidate per company per WE who actually attended and about 7 WEs per year. However, that was some time ago and I'll defer to those who've attended more recently to know how many candidates are hosted each CVW.

I just got this e-mail tonight as well. I'm hoping I'll be able to make it to the September 20-22 weekend if at all possible.

For those attending CVW, if I remember correctly, this is also 2nd Class Parents' Weekend along with the football season home opener. There will be lots going on. Take in all the sights and sounds and keep them in your memory. Remember how it felt to be at USNA because it will feel even more amazing should you be there as a midshipman next year. Cheers and good luck to all.
