Default Larry Mullen Dep Director DODMERB is the Greatest!

Larry Mullen the Deputy Director of DODMERB posted his e-mail address last week for all on this forum to access and ask questions. Tonight I accessed my daughter's medical status on the DODMERB website and found that yet another disqualification letter had been sent. It looked as if her waiver had been denied, though her status still read "pending submission of waiver request/review." I was frantic and confused so I e-mailed Larry and immediately got a response that he was out of the office. Seconds later my phone rang and it was Larry himself calling from Washington D.C. He spoke at length with me regarding my daughter's case. He was very thorough, explained the process and cleared up all the questions I had. Long story short, her case is now going to be evaluated by the waiver authorities.

I was amazed at the lightening quick response. This was unbelievable service!! I can't say enough about him. Larry, with so many questions people must have, you must never sleep.

Got to give the man his props! I didn't even realize the connection between this post and the user MullenLE (I don't peruse the DoDMERB section very often). Thanks for being here!

Thumbs up

Very similar situation occured with my son earlier this week.......in a major panic , I went to this forum late at night, after checking the DoDMERB site, to seek advice........Larry called within seconds of my S.O.S. email ......even though he was TDY in Boston....as of today, son has been granted a medical waiver from the Supt (USNA)......with much credit going to Larry , in my book ! Thanks again Larry !

Default DQ Removed Thank you Larry!

We just received word from Larry Mullen that our daughter's DQ was removed! Larry had called me last Thursday night when he was TDY in Washington D.C. to discuss my daughter's case. He answered all my questions professionally and efficiently. Today, on a Sunday, I had a call from Capt Glenn Merchant who is the director of DODMERB. We spoke at great length about my daughter's case. He too was very professional and candid. (This call I know was prompted by Larry.) About 30 minutes after speaking with Capt Merchant, Larry called to say that Capt Merchant was removing the DQ. All I can say is thank you Larry and thank you Capt. Merchant for listening. This forum has been a powerful tool for me and it can be for you as well. As Capt Merchant said, DODMERB wants to do the right thing.

You are entirely welcome. While we can't guarantee a favorable outcome in all situations, we can guarantee, if you give us the chance, you will know we will do the right thing

I had been dealing with the same situation for about the last month. I finally got in touch with Mr. Larry Mullen on Monday and by today (Wednesday) I have already been granted my medical waiver. Mr. Mullen is certainly out there to help people and if you have and trouble or questions he is the right person to go to. Thanks Mr. Mullen for all of your help!

Sir Mullen,

I recently received a letter from DoDMERB that I infact had failed the DoDMERB medical application program for my candidacy to the USMA due to my allergy to shellfish. I really have almost no allergy although a very slight allergy to crab, which I choose not to eat anymore. Is there anything that I can do to flip this around in my favor, sir?
