Is it possible to recieve more then 1 nomination? Like Presidental and Congressional, etc? If so would it increase/help your chances of getting accepted into a service academy?

Yes, but you only need one to obtain an appointment. Apply to as many sources as possible.

Curious, what do DC residents do? They have no MOC, so who gives them a nom? Just asking out of curiosity.

The do have a (non-voting) Representative in Congress, their representative is known as a "Delegate." (Currently held by Eleanor Holmes Norton, who is addressed as "Congresswoman Norton" - http://www.norton.house.gov/ )

The nominations slots are no different from any other Representative in any other Congressional district. 10 nominations for each open slot, 5 total slots at each academy (except for USMMA they only get 4).

The only "difference" is there is only 1 Delegate from Washington DC (no senators).

DC has a Delegate in the House of Representatives. That Delegate has 5 cadetships and can nominate up to 10 to fill each slot (like a MOC).

More fun facts:
For Puerto Rico - PR has a Resident Commissioner with 5 cadetships and can nominate up to 10 to fill each slot.
The one nom that the Governor of PR gets (that Luigi59 referred to) - must be a native.
So, in total, Puerto Rico has 6 cadetships.

Default Congressional Interview-2nd time around

My DS son is reapplying to USNA as a current freshman mechanical engineering major. He was waitlisted for USNA last year but did not receive an appointment. He has been through the congressional interview process last year and received a nomination. Does anyone have any specific advice/incite for the interview this time around? He is flying home from college for the interview this month.

Would a recommendation from a governor be helpful?
