Handled the issue, now curious of other things
I know this is a late message but I came across your post in 2016 about attending the naval academy and was interested to know your decision because I may have a similar circumstance.

AFROTC HSSP 4-Year, Type 7 (Technical Major)
I cannot begin to express my gratitude for your help. I made a promise to my grandfather before he died last night that I will do whatever it takes to gain admission. Your experience and wisdom will help me keep that promise. I have no further questions at this time, but I'm sure that I will have a few more questions at a later date. I sincerely thank you.
My condolences and good luck!

Did your son get an appointment to USNA at all, or just to the USCGA on his most recent try? (I'm trying to gauge my own profile to his!)
He did not get an appointment at USNA. He is currently going through Swab Summer at USCGA and he is loving it. He did get the NROTC scholarship and got into UNC, UVA, Vanderbilt, and Georgetown but since he got his first choice in USCGA, he took it. I am very happy for him. So far, I have been very impressed with everything I have seen at USCGA.
What do you think held him back the second time because I see nothing but a stellar application from my viewpoint? Thank you for your time.
Parent of a member of the USMA Class of 2022
I can't private message yet, but I was wondering if I could pick your mind a bit? I'm a re-applicant for the class of '23 and have a few questions that perhaps you can answer, seeing as though you walked down the same path a few years ago. Thank you for your time.
As for nominations, I think knowing what to expect and a year of maturing helped. I went in for those interviews having known what kind of questions they would ask and I think having been an adult on my own for a year gave me an edge as far as maturity and confidence.
I will add that I think there was a change in me that year. When I was rejected, I was pissed. I had wanted to go to the Academy my whole life. So I put the idea of a Service Academy behind, and focused what really mattered; the SERVICE part. When I applied again, it was really with the expectation of rejection again. I wanted to serve, so I put all my efforts into PLC.
As my PLC Gunny put it, "That was your Plan A, and it didn't work. So now your Plan B is your Plan A. Treat it as such." So I did. My application to the Academy became a Plan B. My improvements were not an effort to look better to the Academy, but to prove to myself that I was worthy of the honor of serving in the capacity the Academy had denied to me.
Hello. I was wondering if you had any luck with your son being disqualified. I was also disqualified by Dr.Calloway for something that I went through a couple of years ago but was approved by everyone else except for Dr.Calloway. Did anything change for you? Was your son able to get in?
Hi..could you pm me or comment here explaining what docs were needed to overturn the denial..I was denied a waiver from MEPS for eczema

What did you mean when you said stay out of Ho Chi Minh or Kornhead will get you? Doing a research project on the tunnels and trying to gather info....also what it was called before it got the name HCM Trail. Thanks!
Blessed to embark on my final year here...feels like a beginning rather than an end in many ways. Thanks to all those who have supported me!
