Okay, my son told me today that it was 100 days to I day and I recall last year there being a thread about it counting down for all the appointees. And I'm the mom, so no one needs to tell me to not count down and go out and enjoy my senior year instead! My son is pretty excited that it's getting close to the time to go; I'm pretty sad that he'll be gone that soon.

Any other parents or appointees counting down with us?! :thumb:

99 days, 15 hours, 41 minutes till 7:00 a.m that morning.

countdown.

Of course we (parents) are counting down...don't let anyone tell you they are not!!! maybe they just don't want to admit it!! hahaha
I've been counting the weekends...only 14 left until we make our long car journey to CO.....will be an emotional ride!!! but a proud one :thumb:

im sure 2012 felt the exact same way about you guys....haha

see ya there! :thumb:

no one can wait as much as 2010. cause that means we'll be Lieutenants and on Free leave!!!

hmmm... end of june: i'll be backpacking around Europe at that time. can't wait! :thumb:

BSA, I will remind you of that in 100 days :shake: I think you might feel differently then! Have you started practicing sleeping on top of your blanket yet?

or showering in ice cold water for 30 seconds? fun times, fun times

Ahh, I realize that Pima and I am completely enjoying every moment of my senior year. But something like the academy should not be portrayed as such a bad thing. Please don't get me wrong or think I am being arrogant, but I have seen the maturity and growth of many classes in just their first year. I cannot see this as a bad thing. When they can take in arrogant selfish kids like me and turn them into humble selfless leaders, then it should not be something to fear. Maybe the process, but not the product. But taking some of packermatt's wisdom:

"We tend to turn life into a countdown. Every day is a day closer to something better, something that doesn't last. Times get tough, and we wait till it gets better. Times get better, and we wait till they get great. Enjoy today, because tomorrow will come in due time."

That is exactly what I hope to do, right now, and at the academy.

BSA, You are correct, but I think you read into my comment WAY TOO DEEP...I was teasing...kind of:shake:

While you are going through BCT you will not find it humorous, but 4 yrs later you will all be laughing at he memories you made.

like when one of the guys in my squad/flt in jacks sleep low-crawled under his cot in our tent. that was funny. so was his reaction when he woke up

Oh the infamous countdown has begun....Just hope you're cool enough to get to sing Disney songs the entire time you're in basic.

We even busted them out (yes Eagle, you were standing right in front of me) for Recognition.

Yeah! 2014! Get pumped for I-Day! I remember I was always so ready to come to the Academy last year. Keep on preparing yourselves physically and always keep a positive attitude even when everything goes wrong - there are a lot of people here that made it that I would have never guessed capable, and it's all worth it at the end!

just don't bring it weak. 2012 will make sure to bring it this summer.

Every flight in basic gets a call sign that they use with their radios. We were A-flight in a squad where everyone had a Disney call-sign so we got the call sign Aladdin. Next thing we know, instead of yelling "A-fight over here please, sir" we started signing "A Whole New World".....soon we sang just about everything. We tried to telling our cadre we had the talent for a record deal, they didn't buy it.

during one of the SAMIs two guys in our squad made up new lyrics to "paper planes" and we sang that all basic. cadre loved it, and we brought it back last weekend too
