So im trying to make Plan B (and C) for if I do not get into USNA.

I still want to go to a good engineering college.

But I want to become a Marine Corps Officer.

So what program would I want to do? NROTC? ROTC?

I need to know which program so I can then narrow down my college search to: good engineering college with ______. (insert correct program here)

You want to look for a good engineering college with a NROTC Program. If you are applying for a NROTC Scholarship you will want to choose the Marine Corps Option. Good Luck.

If you want Marines, find an NROTC unit that offer Marines (Do they all?), then narrow down the list from there.

https://www.nrotc.navy.mil/colleges_nrotc_unitsXP3.aspx

That's the link that lists all the NROTC colleges, but you have to go through a few hoops to read the list. Click the link, wait....wait....wait, then click 'continue to this website', wait some more, click 'show all' after the alphabet list.

You'll have to do the grunt work now and chop this list down. Figure out which colleges have Marine Option and which have engineering.

Then widdle it down further and rank these schools by other criteria that mean something to you. Location, size, chance of getting in. You'll get a realistic list after a day's work. Good Luck!

FYI: Fall 2010 is Arizona State University's first year for NROTC.

Nearly every NROTC unit has the Marine Corps option available. There may be the rare exception, so best to check directly with the school you are interested in. Make sure to have "back up" schools ranked according to your preference on the NROTC sch. application. My son received the MC Option scholarship and plans on Engineering. He got his first choice of school, but applied to all five. One of them he was not accepted to. Also, not all schools offer the type of engineering you may be interested in, so do your homework and good luck!
