Does anyone know how to g about recieving nominations if applying to multiple acadimies ?

Your help is greatly appreciated

It really depends on your geographic location and competitiveness to receive more than 1 nomination. It definitely is possible as many people on these forums have received more than 1.

I live in a very competitive area so I was only able to secure one nomination and it did the trick for me :)

Once again it depends on your location along with your senators and congressman. My senators allowed one choice only so I had 2 academies I was applying to and split them 1 and 1 between the senators. My congressman allowed me to rank my choices so I had to choose which one I wanted more as my #1 spot and which my #2 spot. I received a principal congressional nomination to my #1 spot. Sometimes if there aren't a lot of people applying in your area you could get a nomination for both spots from your congressman.

Hopefully I explained that OK and good luck! Ask me for anymore questions or clarifications if needed...

coffeecup3 thank youd for your explination. you said that you were in a competitive state. I live in louisiana. do you know what makes your state competitive ? or how do i know how competitive my state is ?

Thanks for your help

Most MOC's offices will be happy to help you with area specific questions. Your Congressman's nominations coordinator can tell you. You could also ask your Senators' nominations coordinators. My Congressman had only a few applications, but my Senators had a few hundred. I ended up in exactly the same situation as coffeecup:thumb:

Good luck!

What makes your state competitive is the number of people applying to the academy, and therefore nominations in your area. I really don't know much about which states are competitive or not so can't help you with louisiana. Rural areas tend to be less competitive compared to urban areas but thats just general.

So I'm from PA and its pretty competitive for both USMA and USNA especially since we are neighboring states (not too sure about USAFA...). Montana on the other hand may be less competitive... Sorry if that doesn't help that much.

There are competitive states and competitive districts w/in states. States that typically are competitive (for USNA at least) are MD, VA, PA, TX, CA, FL and probably a handful of others. However, there can be districts w/in those states that are not very competitive. Likewise, there can be competitive districts w/in non-competitive states. That often happens in districts that include a large military base.

In competitive areas, MOCs will often force you to choose one SA or to rank your choices -- with the intent of giving you only one nom max. That can make it impossible to get noms to more than one SA.

In other areas, there are more noms than competitive candidates and therefore the MOCs may give you more than one nom.

We are in the Philadelphia area and our congressman's office said that the biggest increase in their office was for the AFA. Go figure.
