Son received an NROTC scholarship to VMI but wants to transfer it to Va Tech (he's been accepted at both schools). He sent an email to pnsc_nrotc.scholarship@navy.mil requesting that his scholarship be transferred and saying he had heard that VT was full but asking to be placed on the waiting list. He also attached a copy of the wait list request form from the back of the scholarship packet.

He got an email back from Erin Connor within a few hours confirming his request and putting him on the list for VT. She said he was within the top 20, but couldn't give him any idea of the likelihood of being able to get a spot. She also said they will begin filling slots off the wait lists would begin in the next few weeks.

Looks like this process will be going on for a while . . .

My son received a NROTC scholarship to LSU but is on wait list at VMI. He was accepted to VMI. Also received wait list notification from Lt. Connor. Good luck.

I received the NROTC scholarship to University of Washington, but requested a transfer to VMI.I was also been accepted to VMI, and am now on their waiting list. But there's about 40 other people on that list, yikes.

MCO scholarship transfer

Has anyone heard yet if they have recieved a spot at a "quota full unit" after sending in a scholarship transfer request? Thanks!

Transferring NROTC

The chances of your student being 20th on the list may not be promising. Is there is the possibility of going to VMI, then transfering. I know a person who graduated from VMI and had a great experience.

Good Luck

Haven't heard anything about VT yet. One of DS friends who also got a scholarship to VMI was able to transfer his scholarship to another "quota full" school; I don't know what school it was, only that it's in Colorado. Friend was in top five on that wait list. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the transfer to Tech, but we're not counting on it. VMI is a great school, but DS really preferred Tech. We're in-state, so it's doable.

I'm also on the Navy4Moms forum and two of the NROTC group members' sons have received their transfer notifications off of the wait list in the last couple of weeks.
