DD: applied January 2010: nursing option
1st choice: Washington State
2nd choice: University of Utah

Anyone else?

Son applied OCTOBER 2009, no word yet, finished his intereview Oct.28th...

Applied in fall and interviewed then as well. Status still reads "no decision has been made.....".

My daughter applied in Sept/Oct. Interviewed early. Still no word. It sounds like that may be the case for many. Good luck to everyone.

I finished my application in August 2009 but didnt hear back until early november so I guess it just takes them awhile. Is it correct that they will get back to everyone before May 1st?

Online status did not change, however TWE in the mail today stating I was not chosen for a 4 year scholarship. Wanted to let you all know to be checking the mail. Good Luck!

What is the final date? I thought last year we were waiting for April 15th to know it had closed.

Email from DD first choice college Navy LT

"As far as I know the last of the acceptance letters are already “in the mail.” The navy should be sending declination letters shortly. A couple of more weeks should resolve your anxiety."

I think we should expect to proceed to plan B. So many qualified students this year which is terrific.

I also received the dreaded TWE. I was bummed but I already set meeting up with the LCDR at upenn so we can discuss the college program and get me going for the Fall2010 semester. My mom made the comment that it seems that Ill get a commission if it kills me. I guess she is right but I would rather be alive! lol Good luck to all those who are still waiting and to those who get the TWE... push hard and nothing with stop you if you want it enough.

Averx,
Sorry to hear that, but keep up the wonderful attitude. I am glad that bright young men and women like you will be leading our military one day.:thumb:

If you get the TWE for the 4 year scholarship does that mean that you are still elligible for one of the partial scholarships or would it state that in the letter?

I know it is for NROTC. HOWEVER you still have to apply sepprately for it once you are into the university.

Does anyone know if the TWE is always BAD news? How do they notify the recipients that are awarded a scholarship? Is it a form letter as well?

The NROTC 4yr scholarship award does come as a letter and in a thin white envelope but it is fat - as i recall. It is a multipe paged letter accompanied by at least a form that must be returned by a certain date. The year my son received his - received 3rd week of november with deadline date of december 31st. My son did also receive group email from recuiter who had processed his paperwork, that came about 3-5 days before the envelope. His on line did show he had been awarded the scholarship which triggered a DODMERB account. Since he had already done the DODMERB thing for USNA it was already in play and did not have anything additional to do for that part.
As for the question about other NROTC scholarships - my understanding is once the candidate is a college, one should enroll in NROTC class (1 credit hour) and PT - and apply for remaining years scholarship. I am sure the unit at whatever college one would be attending would be delighted to discuss and guide you thru the procedure.
