Hi Service Academy Forums,

I just got an email from a midshipmen and a plebe I believe. The email was a invitation to CVW or Candidate Visitation Weekend. MY question is I am a junior, starting my application process this summer. How did I get this offer so early? Is it a good or bad sign. Yours truly Vignesh56.

Just got the same email. Wasn't really sure what it was, but I'm definitely not passing up on the opportunity. But yeah, I'm also looking for information.

What school do you go to? and did you get into Summer Seminar?

I go to the Maret School in Washington, DC. No, I did not get into the Summer Seminar. What about you?

Clarksburg High School. Session one NASS. What dates are you going for CVW?

I live in Ellicott City, MD and go to Mount Hebron High School and within minutes of each other was rejected from NASS but got a CVW email! Im really excited, grown up around the academy didnt expect this because im so close but i definately wont pass it up! Most likely going the 22-24

CONGRATS on the CVW invite...that is BIG honor...if you can...DEFINITELY go...son went and loved it. Just a heads up, they will evaluate you at the CVW...so be on your toes...(They also will evaluate you at the NASS as well!!) Take a sleeping bag/pillow/and do not wear jeans, hoodies...impressons are important, you will be attending classes with MIDS who will be in uniform...keep that in mind, (my son wore khaki's and a sweater and also had 2 polo shirts to wear.) Also, it is a nice gesture to take some treats for your plebe sponsor...they love homebaked goods, son took cookies...they ate them all (4 dozen) the same night!! Again, have fun, take it all in, it really is an amazing experience to be able to participate in!! Good Luck!

I am going April 15-17, or next week. And thanks for the advice!

After you guys got the email, what did you do to confirm your spot? I sent an email and called admissions to get my date set, but I haven't heard anything after that. Did anyone receive any form of official confirmation, with like a packing list or a release form or anything?

You are supposed to get a letter via Snail Mail. You have to bring the letter with you as it serves as a Gate Pass and a Parking Pass as well. The letter tells you where to report, at what time and what to bring. Don't forget to bring baked goods for your host MID and please leave your attitude (if any) at the gate.

Remember, your host MID is going out of his/her way and his/her busy schedule to try to show you how it is and therefore does not owe you anything. So if you show them an attitude, they will just as readily make your CVW the most boring 3 days of your life. So do yourselves a favor and play nice...:thumb:

GO NAVY!

I did not get any conformation or anything. Should I call admissions tomorrow?

Yeah call tomorrow. I sent an email on Friday and then called today while I was at school. A couple hours after I called and talked to a receptionist, I got a confirmation email. Its basically the letter you would get but its an email attachment. Then you have to print that out and bring it to get on the yard. It has all the info you need on it.

never mind, i just just received it haha

1. Don't wear your NJROTC uniform. Lots of candidates were walking around in jeans and stuff, but I dressed business casual the entire time with slacks and sweaters.

2. Don't fall asleep in any classes.

3. Make sure you ask lots of questions.
