Several people on the forum have been invited to attend a CVW. I was accepted to NASS, but I have not received an invite. Is this problematic? Am I one of the more mediocre candidates who was invited to accommodate the geographic-representation needs? I hope this is not the case.

Go to Nass. See how you do. If you like it, speak to your BGO about attending a CVW in the fall. You don't necessarily need to attend NASS and/or a CVW to be admitted to the Naval Academy.

I was waitlisted at NASS, and only found out that there was a spot open for my in June, only a couple of weeks before I had to leave for the third session. Throughout the entire application process, I never received an LOA, and invitation to CVW, a phone call from any current mid, or any other letters from USNA (besides talking to BGO and regional director some). Yet I received my appointment on October 16th, one of the earliest. All of these help your chances, but are by no means completely indicative of acceptance/denial.

CVW and SS are what I call marketing tools for the SAs. They are a means for the SAs to reach as many applicants as they can possibly can as early as they can. They are by no means indicative of your abilities or lack of as the case may be!

As what other Posters (?) have said...SAT/ACT/ECA/Class Rank/Teacher's Rec./Nomination/etc. - focus on those instead!

Put it in another way...the CVW and the SS are there to convince you to apply for the SA and NOT to convince them that you are qualified!

Go NAVY! :tomcat:
