does anyone know if the academy itself interviews for appointments or is it just for the nominations with the congressman/senators?

Thanks

My son's MALO scheduled an interview with him last summer (summer before senior year). He came to our home and conducted an interview, but toward the end they just talked about the Army. It lasted about 45 minutes to an hour. No parents were invited to be a part of the meeting.

It varies by MALO. Mine did an interview with me; it seemed to be more of an informational conversation, though. He wanted to get to know me and let me know hoe to stay on top of everything during the admissions process.

I believe everyone has to have an interview as part o the admissions process. I've heard it's not always a MALO though, sometimes they count the interview you have with your squad leader at SLS (if you go).

From what I know, it is up to your MALO whether to do one or not.

I believe that the interview is optional for USMA. My "interview" was very informal and pretty much he just explained more about the academy to me. If the MALO does decide to conduct an interview, they do have an extra form that they submit to USMA for your file, but its very basic.

My son did not have an interview for USMA at all. He did not attend SLS (did not apply) and we haven't ever heard from his MALO, even after he received his appointment at the end of January.

USNA however, requires that you have an interview with your BGO as part of your application. DS had that interview and attended NASS. I do not know about USAFA.
