I have heard on here that we are allowed to bring mostly white running shoes for Plebe Summer. Just what are the guidelines/rules for this? I know we received white New Balance shoes, so do we have to bring the same one or another New Balance? Or can we bring any brand? Are they allowed to have a logo on them? Thanks!!

u'll be issued a pair of white new balance shoes which will be the main shoes with ur white works and a pair of new balance running shoes (take a look at the links below of what these look like)..u can bring whatever shoes u feel comfortable with because u'll mainly be wearing them for PEP in the mornings only..i brought grey and blue running shoes for PEP..but other than that bring what u like and have them broken in..

It really doesn't matter what color of running shoe you have the only time you will wear them is to PEP. There was someone who showed up in army black and gold and there was no mention of this at all- you may stand out if you have a neon orange shoe but buy what you feel comfortable wearing and what you can run in. Because in the end it comes down to how you run in them lol.

The most important thing is to bring running shoes that work for your foot. we tried to switch brands to something mostly white before plebe summer ... ERRROR!!! son got big heal blisters trying to break them in ... so we took them back and got the right/more expensive shoe ... Any color works as long as it is the right shoe for your foot. you will run a lot, and then run more. go to a good running store, get your foot/stance evaluated ... and buy the right shoe. whatever the price (more is not necessarily better, but it might be) ... PEP is a big part of plebe year ... the white shoes they issue are for other uses ... and you will use them ...

I also recommend bringing an extra pair of insoles or even arch supports. A lot of my classmates, including me, got shin splints from running everywhere and on every type of surface. Also, I suggest bringing Icy-Hot as well; it'll help with the random aches and pains you will get. Finally, I suggest in a care package ( or even bring this with you ) to have a couple boxes of band-aids of various sizes, moleskin, anti-bacterial ointment, and sports tape. As I learned over plebe summer, you never know when you OR your classmates may need it.

Best of luck.

great advice on what you will need ... but I suggest if you bring it ... also have some mailed ... some things you get to keep, others, sometimes randomly, you do not ... it is true the USNA supplies needs ... but my son had a dozen long-ish knit boxer shorts, then asked that we send more, because the ones issued to you um, rub/irritate, areas you don't want sore

he did not use any of the t-shirts on the list. plebes must wear the "blue rim" t-shirts issued. we brought them home PPW ...

I was issued all of this

Very true if you like anything other than tighty whities bring your own.

I was issued all of this

Not all of that was issued, like the Icy-Hot and sports tape. At least in my company, the medical items issued were used up quickly, and there was only a small amount of it. The first week is really the worst because you're breaking in your boots and they often times leave blisters. I remember I ended up having blisters for about three weeks and had my mom send more bandaids and mole skin.

Will we be allowed to wear compression shorts during Plebe Summer/PEP?

We sent the long-line knit boxers ... lots ... all your laundry is tied in a bag, washed and returned in the same bag ... a tangled mess ... my son said they boiled it ... don't know if he was joking ... but expensive compression shorts might not make it ... plus it is hotter than hot all summer ... cotton works ... he also said extra is good because it takes a while to get laundry back ... and you sweat like crazy

I would recommend the compression shorts, and yes they are allowed, just don't get the real long ones.

White, navy, black....what color compression shorts are best/allowed?

they issue white. we bought all white. doesn't show in white works, is hidden by gym shorts ... of course by the end of summer everything is grey

I have black. Honestly, I didn't ever use anything that wasn't issued to me. We were always told we would get in trouble if we wore anything not issued. I know more people that went commando than wore compression shorts. And we were issued boxes of sudafed and painkillers, again aside from the kids on chit nobody ran out.
