Link below is to a suggested 10 week training program developed by the VMI PE Department to help you get ready for the VFT(Pullups; Situps;1-1/2 run). This is found on the VMI web site but is buried in the New Cadet section of the site. - if you are heading to VMI and you aren't following a regular PT program- this is a good one to consider - and it's a good time to start! :thumb:

FYI:

Event Standards for Testing:

Minimums:
Event Men Women
Pull-ups 5 1
Sit-ups 60 60
1.5 mile run 12:30 minutes 14:20 minutes
Maximums
Event Men Women
Pull-ups 20 8
Sit-ups 92 92
1.5 mile run 8:30 minutes 9:46 minutes

However, keep in mind that you will be required to do a great deal more than just the VFT - in particular- during the Rat line your abiity to run 3-5 miles, road march and do pushups (lots of pushups) will be fairly common occurances:eek: Bottom line- whether you are a pt animal or not- the Ratline will be stressful- but it will be a lot more stressful and painful if you are going into the Rat year in poor physical condition.

Hi!! Thank you for reminding me that I would have to do lots of pushups! I have been practicing pushups but then I saw that the VFT requires pullups, which is what I'm weakest at. Now I see that I have to practice pullups along with push ups.

Hi! Thank you for putting the link up! However, when I tried to access it, the page gave me an error notice. Do you know anywhere else where I can access this?

Old thread, but still relevant for those who choose to attend the toughest military college in America!
If you go to VMI, best be ready when you show up. Updated link below and good luck!
