Is the swin test during beast performed in a pool or open water? Do the candidates wear swim suits or clothes? Thank you.

from what I know it is performed in Krandall Pool in Arvin Gym and New Cadets wear PT shorts that double as swim suits for male new cadets.

It will be in a swimming pool at the gym.

They actually issue us swim trunks and one piece swimsuits (females). :thumb: The trunks are solid black and look like the PT shorts but they don't say "Army" on them.

we actually get army swim trunks? thats kinda cool. AF the test is just a 150 yard swim in under 3:00 right? Also if it is that, should I swim the test all out or just complete it. Will it dictate anything other than our ability to swim?

No, the PT shorts say "Army" as they are the standard issue army shorts but the swim trunks are plain black.

I would go all out. If you score high enough you will be eligible for advanced swimming which is much shorter than the normal swimming class.

What happens if you fail the swim test? 3 minutes sounds like a lot for 150 yards, but you never know...

three minutes is a lot, a three minute 150 is a swimming warm down. If you can swim reasonably well you wont have a problem with it.

You will get put in "rock swimming". :shake:

The name is just a coincidence, the term "rock" is used for all "special classes" such as "rock math" for people who didn't do so well on the math tests during Beast.

And say a cadet never learned how to swim/been in a pool. What happens then? "Rock Swimming"?
