Please help me!
I'm going to sls this summer and I'm preparing for the CFA.
I know the max and the average stats but how hard is it really to pass?

If any girls have submitted their CFA scores and passed, please let me know what your stats were!

the actual minimums are never posted, the best you can do is ask around and gauge the scores off of people who passed. Just save yourself the trouble and aim to max it out :thumb:

I wouldn't worry about the minimums - my strategy going into SLS and taking the CFA is just to do as well as I can. If you pass it there, great! If not you will be able to redo it back home. I personally (as a girl) can max three events and do better than average on the rest. Just do your best :thumb:

Well I did 50 pushups, which was a max.
89 situps- the max on those is 95, so I was close.
about 30 seconds flex arm hang- I can't do pullups to save my life!
I forget what I did on the shuttle run, but it was better than the average.
Basketball throw sucked, only did about 50 ft.
And mile run- 6:50

Is there a trick to the basketball throw? My daughter also didnt do well at this.

The only way I think is to practice the basketball throw itself. I have no idea if there's a specific technique or anything.

At first I was wondering if I could use a version of the way someone throws a shot put. But I don't really have any idea.

I too have been trying to improve my BBall throw, and I have found that arhcing and twisting your back as far as you can without moving your knees works. I improved by throw by 7 feet in one day just by learning this technique.

I would pay big bucks if you would video tape yourself doing that and then post it on YouTube!

We are having a hard time with this one too!!

Best of luck!

Practice and pray. Seriously, though, I bombed this event, because my tiny hands cannot grip a men's basketball. It didn't keep me out of USMA.

what does "bombing" the bball throw entail? do you remember your score?

Minimums:

I'm reading the Instructions for Applicants receiving offers and there is a physical test during Cadet Basic Training with the minimum requirements:

Males:
6 pull-ups
46 push-ups
60 sit-ups
2 miles <15:00

Females:
2 pull-ups
22 push-ups
60 sit-ups
2 miles <17:00

I know these aren't the CFA requirements but I'm sure they may correlate with each other

Well what is weird is that I play basketball, so I thought I would have no problem. I have a lot of upper body strength and can palm a basketball and throw it nearly full court standing up. It is just difficult to do it while kneeling. Practicing is pretty much the only way to get better at this event, but if 50 feet is enough to pass, I guess that is ok.
