Have applied to 2 different service academys. the waivers listed are the same for each academy but in different orders (on the dodmerb site) for each. Is this due to the order of importance to each academy or are listed randomly?

Send your posting to me via email with full names and last 4 SSN. I can assist U better from there.:thumb:

I am sure that we all owe a debt of gratitude for what Mr. Mullen does to faciliate DoDMERB issues.

However, I have been reviewing posts all over this forum, and in MOST cases, they END with Mr. Mullen saying "Send me an email" - even, as in this case, to a generic question on how different SAs handle different waivers.

The problem is that there is NO INFORMATION posted here subsequently about what the outcomes were, what the ANSWERS ARE for the topics that come up. In other words, we're all "left hanging" about the issues raised.

Mr. Mullen may not have the time /access to say what the outcome is in all cases, and I'm sure confidentiality issues come into play in many cases, but...is there some way to get SOME kind of information here? Perhaps, could the original posters PLEASE come back and say what outcome they received? So the rest of us can get a better sense of what is going on and what to watch out for?

Thanks, and best wishes to all!

While privacy is a prime issue, the REAL issue is misinterpretation of what may apply to one applicant vs another. Illnesses, diseases, injuries, syndormes, conditions, etc., have a wide spectrum of frequency, severity, effects, etc. Hence, that's why it is inappropriate to post outcomes. Heck, you can't get any better than individualized concierge level support, so emailing me is the best way to go:thumb:

The concierge service is indeed appreciated, but some general guidance on how best to approach various situations BEFORE we get into the midst of the whole process would also be beneficial.

Ultimately, every person's circumstances and situations are unique, and making a physical determination requires weighing many, MANY factors, both medical- and mission-related. But it would just be good to know where the "landmines" are so you can perhaps avoid / preclude them.

Thanks for all your help, Mr. Mullen, and best wishes to all candidates.

Hence the medcial sections in the respective Service Academy catalogs:)

Dad, it's not always the best way for all interested parties, but you gotta love that Mr. Mullen for his determination and follow up. And consistency. And swift action.

Patients grasshopper, your time will come. You will have to step into the fray first. If we knew where the 'dangers' lie in life, where would all the excitement be? And let me tell you from personal experience, the DoDMERB experience can be very exciting!

Another source of information is your friendly neighborhood FFR/MALO/ALO/BGO.

These admissions reps can usually tell you what the medical red flags are. I tell my kids that if there is any medical history that they might even remotely think COULD be a problem, then let's talk about it and address it.

IMHO - good to know ahead of time what medical issues you may have to address instead of being surprised with a remedial or DQ.
"What ??? I can't believe THAT is a problem. I had that condition in utuero and it has NEVER caused me a problem since"

Sorry, but BGO are not permitted to discuss any DoDMERB related questions or concerns. We are to refer candidates directly to DoDMERB (thus, Mr. Mullen). :frown:

Pretty much exactly what we ALO's will say too!

We're NOT the DODMERB experts..."they" (especially Mr Mullen) ARE! So we direct folks there.

And I agree - so let me clarify what I so poorly communicated.

Our FFR training materials tell us what they consider red flags and as Mr. Mullen said - they are addressed in the catalog, so I am aware what some of the most common issues are as they pertain to USMA. Personally, I like to prompt the candidates to think about whether they may have a medical concern and have them address it by contacting DoDMERB so that they know where they stand. So, when I say, 'let's talk about it and address it" - I mean to say that if the candidate communicates that they may have a medical concern, I give them Mr. Mullen's email and then wash my hands of it. At that point, it is between DoDMERB and the candidate. I DO NOT discuss it with them, give my opinion or second guess DoDMERB.

Apologies for speaking for the ALO's and BGO's. Not my place.

In summary, any question, anytime, I'll respond as quick as possible:thumb:
