I opened up my CIS thing a few days ago and started fillling it out.

It says math and english teacher recommendations, so I filled out their names ans emails. (I asked my teachers beforehand as well)

I filled out their emails a few days ago, and asked each teacher to notify me when they got the email, just to make sure everything is OK.

Well its a few days later and neither of them got the email......so now what? Shouldnt it be automatic????

Nick,

Ask your teachers to check their spam folders! High School email systems are notorious for sending Naval Academy emails to the spam folder, or worse, deleting them altogether!

If the missing emails are not found in the spam folder, you will have to contact the Candidate Guidance Office and have them re-send the emails to the teachers' personal email addresses instead of school email addresses.

Good Luck!

It is true that the emails are sometimes recognized as spam, but the bigger problems are:

1) The teacher is not very good at checking their email, or
2) You mistyped their email address.

My advice to every candidate is to try to get all this resolved before school lets out. It is oftentimes very difficult to get teachers to do anything for you once school lets out. Some of them have do not even check their school email address after the last day of school. That's why it's always best to use their personal email address, not their school email address.

Just got my math and english recommendations turned in as of 10 minutes ago. When I went to my teachers at the beginning of the week, I put their emails in that day. They said they had it by that night. But both my teachers said they had to send it to their personal emails because they were unable to access them through their school email.

So should we input our teacher's personal email instead of their school-based account?

Yeah, I don't see the problem in doing that. The main thing is that they open the email at home, as school networks typically will block it.

Often the school firewall blocks USNA's mail, so DO provide a personal email address for your teachers; it will save time, grief, and confusion. Best wishes.

thank you for the tips guys.

I talked to both of my teachers and both said they recieved it.

One problem still remains: My English teacher said she submitted it already.....but when I log onto my candidate file it still says awaiting submission
