Hey everyone! I haven't been on here for a little while. But with 24 days before R-day :)eek:), I have a few more questions.

1. For females, I know they say to bring white sports bras and underwear, but about how many of each should I bring?

2. My parents are coming up on A-day, so what items will I be able to have/should they bring up? (I plan on getting those few things ready beforehand)

3. Should I have my parents bring school supplies up on A-day? I know you can get some there, but would this be easier?

ummm... I know I had another question but I cannot remember it as of right now. I will post it when i do. Thanks again!

On A day we took son to the PX to purchase whatever he couldn't get for school supplies at the cadet store. Prior to A day, we went to WalMart (near the airport in Newburgh) to buy things he mentioned wanting (a fan, a few other things). Anything you want but don't put in your bag for them to bring can be communicated before A day...you have several days with computer/phone access before Aday.

sorry about this semi threadjack, but my parents gave me an electric razor for graduation and it has a cleaning dock thing. Should I bring just the razor, clean manually, wait and have my parents bring it up on A day or would bringing the cleaner to beast be OK.

I can't help with #1 but...

2) for my son we brought his Ipod, guitar, and camera. He knew that he may not be able to use the Ipod during 1st semester but he wanted it to use when traveling for Thanksgiving and Christmas leave. Also any sports equipment you want but didn't need during beast. I ended up mailing my son's football cleats to him in late August because he didn't realize he needed them for company level football until A-day was past.

3) You can get all your supplies as the C-store, bookstore, and PX unless you are picky about certain brands. We noticed the PX didn't have a lot of choices for some supplies and they can run out of things. Another option is to tell your parents what you want and have them pick it up in NY when they arrive.

My 2 cents...if it is small enough to fit in your shaving kit, and lightweight, then bring it. If not, have them bring it on A-day.

FEMALES ONLY!
I think I have addressed this before but here goes:
1. underwear - if you bring your own you can wear them. Otherwise you will wear briefs (aka grannie panties). I suggest you buy several PACKAGES of cotton undies - bikini if you want. At least 20 pair, more if you can. Nothing expensive - Fruit of the Loom or Hanes is fine. If you send them to the laundry, they will be ruined by the end of the summer (gray). You can always wash them in your sink, in your room.

3. Sports bras - by the cheapest you can. again they will be ruined if you send them to the laundry. You can also wash these in your sink but I suggest at least 10 bras. You will get sweaty and maybe go through two a day. My d likes the Champion Sports bras at Target - something like that is fine depending on your build. If you pay $40 for adidas or nike sports bras do NOT send them to the laundry!

4. Regular bra - bring one or two. White. This is to go under your while over grays. Do NOT send these to the laundry.

Save the Victoria's Secret underthings for the academic year.
My daughter packed a small duffel bag with stuff for me to bring for A-day. Get your school supplies on post or at the px.

Thank you everyone

And yes Just_A_Mom, I believe you have mentioned this several times! I was just wondering how many sports bras where suggested to bring as I do not think that was mentioned before. Thank you though! I really appreciate your advice on here!!

another question: do we get our mailing addresses before r-day? I would like to give all my friends and family this so they can send me letters

Re: address. If you are getting the emails from Deb Dalton, her latest one mentions addresses will be sent out soon. If you are not getting those, contact her (deb.dalton@usma.edu) and get your parents on the list

I doubt Just a Mom could have not been more clear in this thread: http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/showthread.php?t=11132

Thanks! My parents are on that email list and they forward me some of the emails, not all of them so I must have missed that one. Thanks though

Hahaha yes she mentiones it several several times. And I knew that... my main question really should have been worded differently... How many sports bras do they reccommend bringing? Before posting this I read through that thread and she said at least 15-20 pairs of undies several times, but she didn't suggest how many sports bras to bring. And that was what I was trying to figure out. Thanks!
