For the running portion of the recommended work out in the appointee package, I've consistently been a few minutes ahead of all the times. So, should I try to increase my speed and stay at 4 miles or bump it up to 5+ miles and stay at my pace? Any feedback is appreciated.

IMHO as an OLDER AF guy that has never been fast...

What kept me going at USAFA was my endurance. While I trailed in the early parts of longer runs...I had the "steady pace long endurance" that kept me going and enabled be to NEVER "drop out" of any run we had.

IF I were you...if your time is ahead of the "plan" then keep that pace and increase your distance...endurance!

Time on your feet

With running, time on your feet counts more than speed, in my opinion. Increase the distance, but be careful not to run yourself into an injury. If you have any pain, back off immediately. The last thing you need is a calf or hamstring strain at Tminus 16 days.

Alternate.
Endurance will help at training sessions, sports, etc.
Speed will help on the AFT (only 15% of PEA, but a nice boost if you do well).
