Happy 4th of July to everyone on this forum! Once again we have watched another class of candidates report for I-Day. It is really great to get to know the candidates, parents, and everyone else involved in the process. I welcome getting to know the Classes of 2015 and 2016 as they come on board and begin their time of learning.

The Class of 2014 Basics will get a bit of a break this evening. The Academy always puts on a party and concert, and the Basics are allowed a little bit of relaxation time. My son returned from Qatar on Thursday, and is at the Academy until next weekend. He said that he and the other 'lost souls' will head into town this afternoon to pick up candy, burgers, and other treats to toss down to the Basics to make their evening a little better.

Everyone have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Thank you Stealth! I know you are thrilled to have your son home safe and sound! Please pass my thanks along to your son, and have him aim a couple burgers at my son this afternoon...he's the one in the uniform with the red hat and buzz cut! :shake:

Happy Fourth of July everyone!

Just hope he doesn't get caught eating any of that stuff. Atleast... thats the way it was 2 years ago.. things may have changed which wouldn't surprise me

Oh my! Wouldn't want to risk getting a form 341 pulled!!!:eek: !!!

leaving right now to pick some stuff up. haha. it made last year a lot better when i got stuff at least. it was a big surprise!

getting pulled a 341? No.. I mean we got beat on the way back from that celebration.. the whole way lol.

I'd eat a cheeseburger for a 341 silly.

hahaha i remember being one of the lucky few that got a taco of some sort, then just got it beat on the t-zo coming back. sucked..

Did the fireworks eventually go off last night (other than the daily ones put on by the cadres)? Did the BC's get anything special?

well after being threatened with a 30/30/y i decided not to throw stuff. i think i saw some other ppl walking to a hall with food though. i just watched from the Tzo. kinda cool view with the chapel right there

30/30/y? Are you saying that the upper classmen get in trouble for doing the throwing and the Basic Cadets for eatting.

Yes, upperclassmen were threatened with quite severe punishments if treats were thrown at basics. I'm not sure if they threw them anyway or if any were actually punished.

Got a letter from my basic saying people were throwing candy, macdonalds, etc.. Don't know if was from the parents or upperclassmen. He said they got soda, doritos and ice cream bars and sounds like that was a 5 star meal :). And he said the fireworks were incredible (and he has a dad who is a fireworks expert-so he has seen lots in his day). He had a very Happy 4th.
