Black Flag Days Ahead

Forecast for Connecticut the rest of the week:HOT HOT HOT...near 100 temps with high humidity.

Fortunately the Academy will declare "Black Flag" days and limit the physical activities of the swabs. Hopefully a break in the weather is coming.:eek:
 
Thanks, boss! If they limit their physical activity, I'm guessing marching, running, etc.,
what do they do instead? Can they still sail, etc? Thanks!

Other thing that will keep them from exercising is the "Ozone Alert" for New London due to poor air quality.
It's been so hot here in CT (and yes, there are many in this state with no central AC) that they've had to turn people away from the beaches, they were to capacity :eek:
 
Fairwinds they try to do indoor stuff like swimming, lectures etc.

BGO you are so right. Yesterday there was a two-hour traffic jam going to the Milford beaches. I stayed home in front of the AC. Not central but it does the job in my little house.:biggrin:

Typically the schedule for the day was shifted, so the cadets could get their physical activity and "incentive training" earlier/later in the day when the temperatures were lower.

Lows this afternoon and early evening ~ 90's
Ozone alert could keep them from anything but the simplest of outside activity since ozone can potentially damage the lungs.
Di called, had put the thermometer on the deck in the sun ~ temperature reading 127 degrees.
Right now, in the shade at home it's 104.
Positive thing, temps are to be in the high 80's by the end of the week. :thumb:
 
Any idea what the temperature is like in Chase Hall for those who aren't (mine) in the A/C part of it? And are the rooms where they are currently having their lectures A/C'd? -officer
 
While the vast majority of Chase Hall doesn't have A/C, the majority of the other buildings (except MAYBE 5th Deck Rolland) have A/C.

While Chase gets hot, in general, doors are opened and fans are in every window, so there gets to be some pretty good circulation in the building, not to mention shade.

It's hot, but it's not terrible.

Haha, thanks. My ears burned on R-day once before...although it was because apparently I wasn't saying the Mission fast enough, and I took my eyes "out of the boat."


I can safely say, and many many fellow CGA grads will agree, when you enter Chase you get a weird feeling...if it's over the summer, and the stench of swabs hit you, a flood of some good, but mostly not so good memories hit you.

While I was in Louisiana, I worked for a Cmdr. (reserves) who graduated in..maybe the 80s, I think. I rattled off, pretty quietly "how's the cow", she heard it and started laughing...she couldn't forget that stuff either.
