Hello, I am planning to attend a daily walk-in briefing tomorrow and I have a few questions:

- Where do I enter the Academy?
- What will my family be doing?
- How long will it last?
- How do the meals work?

Thank you in advance. :thumb:

I would say you enter at the Thayer Gate, as too the rest, I don't know unless they are running it like the Winter Visits. If so, you'll go to the the Admin building at 606 Thayer Road and your parents will stay with you till a cadet picks you up for a tour but again, that's what they do during winter when full classes are running. My guess is your parents will go with you on some kind of tour.

I don't believe they do the Cadet walkthrough in the summers. I read that somewhere on the USMA website that they only do that from around September to May I believe.

This is all the info I have from the website:

During the summer, the Admissions office has daily walk-in briefings at 10:00 am Monday thru Friday. This is a visit with an Admissions officer that explains the admissions process, cadet life, Army life, and provides other useful information. If you would like to attend one of the briefings, please call 845-938-5760/5759.

Yea, it's a daily walk-in briefing. If you wanted the whole cadet walk-through and the meal in the mess halls with cadets, you will have to wait until the 2010-2011 academic year to start. Now of course, if all you wanted was the daily walk-in briefing, then you should be fine.

I"m going to go with a crazy plan here...I bet if you call the numbers you provided, they can give you all the info, including the answers to the questions you asked. Much better than our supposition here on this forum.

The number is a recording that states that candidate visits will start in September and they have informal, no appointment, info sessions in the summer. No new info was in the recording than the website.

I would suggest that you ask to meet with the admissions person in charge of your area of the country. This was offered last year, when my son and I visited. It was beneficial because my son had already submitted certain information, and the admissions offcier (sorry, forgetting the USMA term), accessed his file and made a few comments/suggestions.'

As stated above, there was no tour offered last summer. It was an admissions briefing and Q and A.
