I would say that he has a pretty good chance. Great ACT score for AROTC scholarship. The GPA has room for improvement.

Unsure what you are asking...
he will be a HS senior next year

He did poorly first year HS been improving with age
3.0, 3.3, 3.5

weighted? (no honors or AP courses anyway)

As an Ohio boy now in Tennessee, I have to tell him to switch the order of his top two schools!

Just kidding. Best of luck in the scholarship hunt.

That's good to hear, the GPA is to late to change before this fall's application
Are you with OSU AROTC?
We are planning on a visit to OSU, just have not picked a time yet.

At his age, I think better school is equal to further from home...
It was for me at his age.

Are you a West Point recruiter?
I did not know they had those.
I spent a summer at West Point as cadre, a long time ago.

In the south east JR HS means rising JR. In other areas it means you completed JR yr and now are going to be a SR. I was unsure if he took the ACT this spring as a test run as a sophomore since everyone now superscores.

I agree with scout, I think he is better off with his stats to place IS over OOS.

Unless, AROTC scholarships have changed this yr., his application will only allow 5 schools to apply for regarding the AROTC. If I am correct the Army will give your DS a slate of 5 to choose from...you need to be honest about his chances of getting into those schools. Nothing hurts more than getting a scholarship to a particular university and a letter from that school they says "THANKS, BUT AT THIS TIME WE ARE UNABLE..."

I will be in September! I have an AROTC scholarship to Ohio State. Definitely drop by and give them a visit; all of the cadre and the few cadets that I have met are great people. If you don't visit until fall, then maybe I'll see you!

P.S. - I urge your son to stay in Ohio, GO BUCKS:thumb:

I think your son will be competitive at any of the schools listed. UT's business school is excellent (and highly rated) in logistics if that is his interest. They have a new building (about 2 years old) that has all the latest toys. Apply early! I can tell you that UT gets more picky as the year goes along.

Most importantly though is that he goes to a school where he is comfortable.

Go Vols!
