Hey all, I had recently taken my CFA, handed in final transcripts, completed all forms, and have all SOE recs in. All I am doing is working on my essays. I know that there are a lot of people asking how they compare to other candidates so I figured one more can't hurt. I am hoping that I stand a chance at getting a LOA but I am trying not to expect anything. As far as extra curicular activities go, I was a drum major of my high school marching band, in jazz band, in the pit orchestra, on the golf team, on the indoor track team, and in NHS. I am going to college at Ohio State where I am in Army ROTC, the John Glenn Learning Community (a group that accepts members that have an interest in public affairs and judge people on academics and extra curriculars), I will be doing Intramural Soccer, joining the Buckeye Barbecue Qlub (yes I know that is a Q), and I will be trying out for the Ranger Challege Team. In high school I graduated with a GPA of 3.8244 and had the SAT score of 690 on math, 590 on writing, and 580 on critical reading totaling to 1860. These are my CFA results.
Basketball throw - 1st attempt 72 feet, 2nd attempt 70 feet, 3rd attempt 73 feet
Pull-ups - 14 reps
Shuttle Run - 8.7 seconds
Sit-ups - 96 reps
Push-ups - 75 reps
1 mile run - 6:20
Last year I did not receive a nomination even though I was told by my district coordinator that if I got a nomination I would probably get in. Not getting a nomination was tough but I found out that all ten people that my congressman nominated were admitted. My main concern is the competition that I face in my district there for I feel a LOA is important to getting the nomination. Any insight on what to do in college besides keep good grades would be much appreciated and if you could let me know what you think my chances of getting a nomination, appointment, and LOA are it would be greatly appreciated. I did apply for the nomination for ROTC cadets, does anyone know how many nominations are given to Army ROTC cadets from the Secretary of the Army? Thank you and I know that this is probably the thousandth post to ask about chances.
