So I received my Dodmerb info packet not too long ago and was reading through it. I wear Paragon CRT corneal refractive therapy lenses and, according to Dodmerb regulations, I must remove and quit wearing those lenses for 90 days prior to my eye exam. So the earliest I can start/complete the entire Dodmerb process is end of October/beginning of November! This really concerns me because I know everyone here and that I have talked to is really emphasising the whole "Get it done early, get it done now!" with the process - especially Dodmerb.
I know some of the earliest admissions decisions are being made sometime in August/September (?). And I have been very timely with everything, but this will make it impossible for me to get an early-ish acceptance!
With a situation like this, will there still be spots open once I get this sorted out?

Get everything else done, including the applications for nomination interviews. Worry about what you can control; this is out of your control. If they like what they see and you are a very strong candidate, it's possible you could land an LOA contingent on DoDMERB. Finishing in October is still "early." Good luck!

The eye exam is separate from the main physical exam. Get the main physical done, and you should be almost all the way there.

I thought it said that you had to have the eye exam done first? Maybe I misread something.

That's the general rule, but you might want to ask if they'll let you do the medical exam first because of your unfortunate situation. No harm done in asking!

can the eye exam be done by a civilian doctor or does it have to be done at a military facility?

DoDMERB assigns you an optometrist and an office that will conduct your medical in your area. Mine were both civilian.

As always, with anything DoDMERB, go to the Master: Larry Mullen's contact information is pasted at the top of the DoDMERB section of the forum. He has been a huge help to many people on this forum, including my now-cadet.
