ROTC Scholarship

Hey everyone! I was wondering on how you get an ROTC Scholarship to one of the Senior Military Colleges, preferably Texas A&M or The Citadel. Thank you
 
First, you should apply to whatever ROTC Scholarship you want, and put Texas A&M and The Citadel as one of your schools of intent
 
well i googled the ROTC scholarships that are offered, but If i want to get a 4 year scholarship to one of the Senior Military Colleges, would I have to have a competitive resume like leadership positions and excellent academic scores like candidates for USMA have? since SMC's are military colleges?

You need to be competitive to win a 4 year scholarship period. The number of people applying for these scholarships is way up, and the number of scholarships available for awarding is down, so the better your academic, leadership and athletic achievements are, the better your chances.

Then, on a separate note, you need to be competitive to be accepted to the SMCs. The scholarship slots at the SMCs fill up fairly early in the application year, so you need to get both your applications for the scholarship and to the universities/colleges in early. They are decided on independently of each other.

All the ROTC applications are now available on-line. The sooner you finish the applications the sooner you will be considered for a scholarship. The later you finish and submit your applications for the various ROTC programs and SMCs the fewer scholarships and admissions slots that will be available.

At least as far as AFROTC is concerned, they couldnt care less if you go to a SMC or not. Scholarships are competed for nationally and once awarded you can take it wherever you want.

For Navy I do believe that you are awarded a scholarship to a specific school though.
 
How early would you say to start applying? I am only a sophmore just starting the school year. Would a reasonable time be in the second semester of junior year or first semester of senior year?
 
Sometime late in the second semester of your junior year the applications will open up. Start the application and get everything done as quickly as you can.
