Ok, I have an opportunity to fly free to Japan to where our DS will be in about 1 month. His sea partner's mom works w/ an airline and she made the offer and wants to go. That would be a trip of a lifetime for me! But I don't know if we should go w/out our ds's approval. I can imagine their concern about the crew thinking mommies flew all the way to see their ds's. I know that time would be limited in seeing them if they get off at port. (they are supposed to be there again for 10 days..yes, things may change). We were wondering how soon in advance, if at all, the guys will know if they have port time. And how can we present this opportunity of a lifetime for 2 moms to see Yokohama and their guys without them feeling embarresed?:thumb:

Tell them it is a vacation of a lifetime and they are the icing on the cake. You are not there for them but they just happen to be there during the time that was offered to you.

Just make sure your emphasis in on a vacation in Japan and not him. Possibly, don't even mention that you know he will be there at that time and let him figure it out - date and time wise. If he happens to mention that it is the same time he is there, well, just act surprised. Then just mention that "if" by chance you guys could see them for a day or so, then it won't seem like you planned on being there when they were there. They may go for it but make it seem like it really doesn't matter if you guys hook up or not, maybe by then, they will want to see mom and a bit of home life. Who knows. Just my suggestion and opinion. I could be wrong, it won't be the first time but shhhhhh . . . . don't tell my husband.

In my opinion

I'd seek his approval before stepping on that airplace. My son does get very embarassed about having his mother hovering around.

I know what I'm going to do. Thanks for the help. Time and asking about it.

Ok, no fair!!! Just kidding, what a great opportunity. The thought crossed my mind as well but our DS doesn't seem to be in any European port for more than 24 hours... Maybe during 2nd sea year!!

Word has it that someone thinks its best we don't come......it was a good fantasy for awhile. Much work to do on the ship and of course the sea project and maybe even sleeping and enjoying a few hours in port I suppose.
