When should we start finding out if we get the NROTC Scholarship? I made the deadline for the August board, but once those decisions are made, when will we find out and how?

Will we receive a paper notification, an email, or will it just be updated on the website?

Usually you find out about 2-3 weeks after the board meets. Last year the fastest way was to check DoDMERB and determine whether you "suddenly" had access to the site (for those that are not applying to a SA). The next fastest was was to check the NROTC scholarship status site. Last and probably slowest is the snail mail notification that will EVENTUALLY arrive but can take some time depending on when NROTC can get them in the mail. Good Luck!!!:thumb:

thanks, and for the DoDMERB method, it says that my u.n and pass are incorrect, even though I had them saved, but I can't do a password reset (it says "function not available at this time.")

Is it supposed to say that, and then when it opens up, it will start working, or am I just an idiot?

I can't really comment on whether you're an idiot , but yes DoDMERB is not accessible for ROTC applicants until AFTER they have been awarded a scholarship and the NROTC people advise DoDMERB to open an account for you. If you have applied to a SA then you will already have an active DoDMERB account and can just check it occasionally. Don't worry, there will be a lot of posts on this site when the first NROTC decisions are released so you will know when to start checking.

Haha, alright. Unfortunately, well not really unfortunate, but I am an applicant, so I guess this method is out the window.

Aglages is correct, this forum will light up like a christmas tree, until then hold tight.

My DS's area recruiter told him this morning that the "board" informed them that they have reached their limit for the August board. Any apps completed and received will be held until the September board. Sounds like the board is meeting very soon!

Ok, quick question. Would I still be evalutated at the august board if I am having my interview next week? Everything else was turned in a while ago.

No, sorry. My coordinator told me that everything has to be in for before August 2nd to make the August board.

In checking the NROTC site it still has choice of 2009 or 2010, no 2011 scholarship date...?

The reason why is probably due to the fact that the fiscal yr begins Oct 1 for the 2011.

You might check to make sure that you are at the correct web address. I believe you might be looking at last year's entry site. Go to https://www.nrotc.navy.mil/apply.aspx, click on "online scholarship application" in the first line of text. It has a different way to access the information and it only includes 2011 application information. Hope this is accurate!

Hi all,
I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but let me tell you briefly about our experience with NROTC Scholarship last year. DS had applied to USNA, with NROTC as his back up plan. Everything was done by September 1. When we had heard nothing from NROTC by December, DS contacted his NROTC guy and asked if he should be doing something. No, everything was in order; application was outstanding, academics are superior, test scores fantastic, interview was tops, no problems, it's all good, just be patient.
As April approached, we were on pins and needles. First the letter from NROTC stating they weren't offering a scholarship, followed a week later with a TWE from USNA. I can't even express how devastating this was. We immediately heard from the NROTC guy encouraging DS to reapply. I asked for the reasons he didn't get a scholarship this time around and was not given anything concrete. The bottom line, I have come to understand, is there simply wasn't the funding available....AND DS did not select schools that would put him in a diverse situation. It appears that it is extremely helpful to pick schools that put the candidate among the minority.
At any rate, as disappointing as all of this was, DS has reapplied to USNA and is enrolled in a nearby university. He joined the NROTC unit there and is doing extremely well. One of the Navy Admin there asked why he's not on a scholarship with his grades, eca's and athletics, so we do have confirmation that this was not just some pipe dream. During orientation week, 8 recruits dropped out...at least 1 of them was on scholarship. How frustrating/disappointing!
All of this to say: HAVE 2 OR 3 ALTERNATIVES PLANS IN PLACE AND APPLY FOR EVERY POSSIBLE SCHOLARSHIP OUT THERE!

Has anyone heard from the NROTC board that met this month?
We've all heard but they asked us to keep it a secret. I'd say we're doing a fairly good job...so far. However, I'm sure someone will let the cat out of the bag within the next week or so.

Do you mean your applicant has recieved a scholarship and just is not allowed to tell any one?

No - I was joking. The board just met this past week. I don't think It is reasonable to expect results the same week as the board meets. We might want to give them to at least to the following week to release their results. Just my opinion....
