Can someone share regarding the CGA Fitness Test. What are the components of the CGA Fitness test? I am interested in events, time frame, max scoring, and who can administer.

Thanks.
Russ

Suggest that you do a run through with the test administer to get your base-line score.
It is very important that who ever is administering the CFA read through the instructions very carefully and meet with you prior to you taking it.
If the first test is good, then have the administrator submit it. If it is say, below a 150, don't send it in, take a couple of weeks to get into better shape and retake it.

The PFE (I assume it's still called the PFE) has changed since I was a cadet, but I recommend running in the heat, often before Swab Summer. You want to acclimate to the weather. While New London may be in the northeast....it can get VERY hot in the summer. If you haven't prepared yourself somewhat for that fact, it can be tough on the body.

Yes, it is still called the PFE, and it is still only 3 events.

Unlike the CFA (an admissions test only) the PFE is the exact same test you will take while you are at the academy as well. Men and women take the same test, however it is scored a little differently.

The score you must meet for accession/appointment is different from the score you must meet for graduation/commission, but the test is the exact same.

4/c must score 165 or may face disenrollment.
3/c must score 180 or may face disenrollment.
2/c must score 190 or may face disenrollment.
1/c must score 200 or may face disenrollment.

270+ will get you a blue star to wear on your uniform.

The average PFE score for incoming swabs this year was 212 - if your score isn't close to that I suggest you continue to work out.

Used to be 5 events....1.5 mile run, shuttle run, sit ups, pull ups, and standing long (or was it broad) jump.

Please note, while falling below those score could get you "the boot", not meeting standards will land you on remedial PFE. If you can't pass it....you will not graduate. It doesn't happen too often, but it does happen. There's a whole program built arround getting you up to stardard.

Train now, not only so you pass, but if you have the "physical stuff" down, it's one less thing to worry you or occupy your time and it will give you more time to dedicate to other areas....like academics.

Once you have the flat terrain run down where you like it, train running up some hills. If you want to go for the all out prepared training, run hills with a 25 lb. backpack.

Also, just because you score above a 165 does not mean you are in optimal physical shape. Cadets who score above their class standard but below a 200 are placed on a remedial physical fitness program to increase their level of physical fitness.

Thanks

Thanks everyone for the super info and links. This was a little background research for me (the dad). S3 has found it on his own and is moving out. S1 is now at USMA and the PT becomes just a regular part of life, and S2 is NROTC-MO Frosh and loves the physical stuff.

Godspeed to candidates and Thanks to Scoutpilot, OFFICER, alages, luigi and other very good resource folk.
