Just wondering if you receive a letter or something saying that you are academically qualified. My DS passed the CFA at NASS and received notice that he passed the DODMERB. He just received a letter in the mail and I am dieing to open it!!!!! Have seen some on here that have already gotten a LOA's so pondering on what it might say.

You do get a "scholastically qualified" letter, but let's hope yours is an LOA. :thumb: Good luck and let us know what you (I mean your son) got!!

Then again, you will hear from many, and I agree with them, that an LOA is not the goal and is no guarantee of appointment. But, it certainly doesn't hurt to see that little piece of paper!

The LOA was two pages, front and back, the Scholastically qualified was a single sheet only the front side. Info for moms who hold things up to the light!

Your a good mom! My mother did not wait for me to get home to open my LOA!! She called me and told me...some parents....

Waiting over!!

Just like Ranger it was a CVW invite. DS attended NASS for the 6 days. Thoughts on should he go back or is it more or less for those that have not been. It is only a Thursday night through a Saturday morning.

Does it look bad if you don't go after being invited?

It will not look bad if you do not go.... I think it is more of a way for USNA to give candidates the opportunity to really see what the Academy has to offer to help allow the candidate to make an educated decision on whether or not to attend. After all, Mids are investments and the Academy does not want to appoint someone just for them to quit....

I received my CVW letter yesterday, but I am not sure if I will attend. I went to NASS earlier this summer and I think they serve a similar purpose...

DS went to NASS too. He's DoDMERB qualified, app has been done since July, B and G interview was a couple of weeks ago. His interview was enthusiastic about him being motivated and having all his paperwork done and offered to help him prepare for his MOC interviews. The dates they gave in his letter include one of the Senator interviews (a can't miss event) and the state XC meet that he's worked for 4 years to run at. . .
I guess he should contact his regional director and get the scoop on how they'd view a miss on this opportunity. . .

My DS had attended NASS, but was still undecided on which academy to attend. The CVW definitely cemented his decision. It provides a chance to see plebes in daily routine, go to classes, etc. My DS also had an event he did not want to miss and was able to reschedule the CVW to another weekend. Parents should also attend if possible. They provide tours and lots of good information to parents as well. It was very reassuring for this non-military mom.

If its at all with in your means - go! CVW is different from NASS in that they get to experience what NA life is actually like - not summer camp. Your candidates will eat and sleep with Plebes and go to classes with them too. My Plebe actually took a calculus quiz on her CVW. (she passed  ) and did a two hour chem lab. It made her realize that she could handle the academic side of the NA. The CVW was a real positive in helping her decide to attend; she told us she was definitely going on the ride home. Plus, I don't know what kind of tour parents get during NASS but the one at CVW was great.

Edit: What mom said...
