How important is the interview in the AROTC schlorship

I have heard it counts for 50%?

From the AROTC website: "Each student can achieve 1000 Whole Person points during the interview evaluation process. Your 1000 point Whole Person score is a merit based score made up of: 1) 250 points for your ACT/SAT score; 2) 200 points for your scholar/athlete/leader evaluation based upon your athletic, scholastic, and leadership achievements; 3) 200 points from your interview; and 3) 350 points are determined by the board of officers. Student’s scores are then placed in an order of merit list (OML), in descending order, of their Whole Person point score."

How important is the....

I can't speak for AROTC, but has for Navy back in 2007, it was like interviewing for the job you always wanted. My son interviewed with NROTC, back in May, 2007. One of the interviewers said, that he did extremely well. Which propelled him to get the scholarship, plus the great grades If you want and desire this, work for it. Aristotle said, " We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence is not an act, but a habit."

Good luck,

Thank you, so if the interviewer told my son that he gave him his highest recommendation that would likely be 200 points?

as for 250 points for SAT/ACT, does anybody know what it takes to get 250 out of 250? Do they have an arbitrary number for X scores, such as beyond 1400 (CR+M), 250. 1350-1400, 220, etc, etc.

My son's May/2010 SAT is 1340 (CR+M) and 2040 (CR+M+W), and I am wondering what scores he will get on this dimension.....

I know from my brother that is in the Army...he said that even though its only 200 points, its the most outstanding points you would want though. They weigh a lot when it comes to the scholar/Athlete/Leadership part of it... My interviewer told me that the Army has gotten many Athletes but not scholars and leaders which is what they look for in the interview...ie.. they can see all your credenials and judge your character face to face which makes those 200 points crucial to get!...Dont worry the interview is very easy and relaxed..well at least for me but anyways good luck!
