I think I need a leadership XC and was wondering if you guys could give me some ideas.

Thanks

There are the generic ones:
-Team Captain
-Class President
-Club President
-Scouts / CAP
-JROTC

Other possible ones:
-Boys State
-National Honor Society
-Academic Tutor
-Leading a community event
-Volunteer Firefighter

Choose any activity that interests you and perform well in it.

Well, Boys State could happen, have to see with that one. Class President/officer position are filled. Not sure about CAP/Scouts. Don't want JROTC. Planning on joining NHS, will probably get a letter after 1st Qtr. (didn't know that counted as leadership, but i guess they can do other things like i know some of them help other with school work, etc.) Not sure exactly how I would go about elading a community event. and the volunteer firefighter thing, is that leadership? or just community service?and i begin Volunteering at the Ambulance Dept. this upcoming Wednesday.

Boys State is weighted highly by admissions. NHS demonstrates leadership according the the Academy. I mentioned being a volunteer firefighter because that shows leadership in the community; it's not just limited to that activity though. Look to organize / lead an event in your school or outside of school.

k, I'll be working on it. But, I'm glad to know I won't have absolutly nothing under leadership, because I thought I did.

For the national honor society, what do you do after you "join?"

Check with your local Rotary club and ask about RYLA, a great leadership program for High Schoolers which they sponsor. Good luck!

tutoring if you are good in school, peer court attorney, etc. also a lot of my friends help coach little kid's soccer, etc. good luck!

looked that up, looks pretty cool. I shot my local Rotary Club leader an email.

Thanks

I'm the president of the local Lions Club's Leo Club which is very similar to Rotary. These are great organizations to pursue leadership through the betterment of the community.

One thing to keep in mind. Simply being part of something is not exactly the same as leading something.

You will want to join, get involved and take leadership rather than simply joining and then putting it on your application that you were a member.

I'll make sure to do that

By the way, I'm just wondering, how comptetitive is Pennsylvania for appointments?

I will comment specifically on nominations.
PA is a large state, so the senator nom would be more competitive. Each individual district has their own level of competitiveness. I'll use Boys State as my source, one district had 10+ delegates while others only had 1 - 5. PA as a whole is more competitive for Navy and Army noms rather than Air Force.

Ah, I see. Thanks
