Like the thread title says, when do they stop handing out LOA's?
And another question; how early are appointments given to candidates with completed applications (but without LOA)?
And one last question (actually two more) :redface: : how long does it usually take for the office of admissions to process an official transcript once it's mailed? How about the BGO Interview Evaluation? I sent out my transcript today and I will finalize my application with the completion of my BGO interview tonight. I was wondering how long it will be until everything's updated into my application.

Thank you :smile:

Appointments are already being offered to non-LOA candidates. LOA's continue to go out as long as they may lend potential encouragement to candidates meriting those AND potentially discourage them from accepting offers of admission from other institutions. You can assess when that may be.

So would these appointments be considered somewhat like LOA's?

No, these appointments are appointments. If you get one, accept!
LOAs state certain conditions which need to be filled in order to get a guaranteed offer of appointment. The appointment will guarantee you to be admitted on I-Day.

No idea if there's a specific cutoff date for LOAs, but they are most commonly contingent on a nomination so if you had to know I would ballpark it when Congressmen declare their nominees. Appointments are given instead of LOAs when everything is completed including receiving a nomination - there have been three on these forums reported so far. It took my transcript about a week to show up on my portal, but my BGO interview took about three weeks for some reason even though my BGO assured me she submitted it promptly.

My DD got an LOA in early January--after she got nomination, at the same time she got medical disqualification. LOA stated if she got medical waiver, she would get appointment.

We were so bummed about medical DQ, the LOA didn't even register. :redface:
But all's well that ends well--she's a plebe.:smile:

I think my Son received his LOA in late November or early December.

An appointment is the ultimate goal.

Appointment = admission.

It's the "light" at the end of the admissions tunnel.

You're in!

You'll know it's an appointment by the thickness of the packet. It's the largest piece of mail you'll ever get from the Naval Academy.

But you still must accept/reject the appointment by a certain date, usually June 1st, if I recall.

i sent in my transcript, etc. on a monday and they had it updated on CIS i think by thursday of the same week
