CFA instead of PFE

Hello,

I've finished all my pieces of my application to USCGA except PFE. On the supplemental forms packet it says we can use the CFA instead of PFE if they receive it directly from a different Federal Service Academy. I took CFA at USNA SS and did really well so I'd much like to use that score.

I emailed my Admissions officer to get this done but no response...who should I call to get this taken care of? I'd very much like to get this done quick to ensure that I make the Early Action Deadline.

Thanks!

Admissions will accept the CFA, however they highly recommend that you submit the PFE, as this is the standard which you will be held to at the Coast Guard Academy.

Your choice - you can submit something that is "acceptable," or something that is highly recommended.

Was it taken after July 1, 2010? I thought NASS was in June? Tests taken before 7/1/2010 should not be submitted.

He/She may be travelling this week and may not be quickly responding to email, I suggest you call the Admissions office directly at (860) 444-8500.

I would reccomend taking the PFE and just send both in. I sent in just the CFA last year and while my CFA score was decent my PFE score was a lot better compared to it when I took the PFE for the first time during summer orientation. In my opinion the PFE is easier than the CFA so it will most likely help your application if you send in the PFE.

Agree with the early responses; would suggest you make arrangements to take the PFE and have the scores submitted ASAP if you want to make the EA #1 deadline.
Things on my side have really heated up during the past few weeks with USNA candidates who need interviews ASAP and I imagine things are hopping in USNA Admissions. Thus, I would not wait for USNA to send scores to USCGA.
Looks like this is going to be another big year for SA applications!
Best of luck to you.

DS took both. He submitted the ONLY CFA results to USAFA and USMA. He submitted ONLY the PFE results to USCGA.

Decided to keep it simple, although it meant he had to do a little more exercise, which is a bonus.

PS: Sending in the physical fitness exam in the format that each SA requests (USNA: CFA USCGA: PFE) means that the SA does not need to convert the score to their format. Keeping things simple means less room for error.

Did the same when I was applying....I thought I called them PAE and PFE though.

We sent in both the PFE and CFA. I administered the PFE since I basically was his P.E. Coach (son was homeschooled). But to validate his PFE, I sent in his Westpoint CFA too.
