@sbbond93, did your application status page change? And. . . WAY TO GO!!

:thumb: Now just get in. You still have time to apply to GW Early Decision (which is binding). Make sure to put in your application that you have an NROTC scholarship. I think it gives you a big boost in admissions.

That's the only problem, my first choice is USNA therefore I can not do early decision but I am almost done with the app.

Congrats, sbbond! If you go to GW you will be in my DS's unit. GL on USNA too.

Congrats to you and your DS, TexasHopeful!

SSBOND93 --

That's going to be an interesting choice -- I can totally understant USNA over NROTC for most campuses (campuses with a very small unit, not academically comparable to USNA, not near any Assets, etc.).

However, there are a select few Units that are quite large, are top tier academically, are located close to the assets of the Pacific or Atlantic fleet, and have lots of mid-career MECEP and Officer Candidate participants -- that the gap between the quality of training and career exposure at USNA and NROTC is narrowed considerably. Add to that the unique skills gained in training amidst an overwhelmingly non-military college cohort -- skills that will be critical in some future commands ... and well you get the idea.

The GW Unit is one such Unit, and USD is another.

Good luck.

NROTC status of scholarship application website is working now.

Nervous

Hello, we are a little nervous for our daughter who has applied for a NROTC scholarship. We see that some people have posted they received their letters and another said they did not make it through the first board. Does anyone know if all the letters for the first board have been sent? Thanks for any insight you might have.

Does anyone know if all the letters for the first board have been sent?
The only people that know the answer to this question work within the NROTC system. When the scholarship status site was down the letters were the first indications many applicants had that they were selected for a scholarship. The scholarship status site is NOW working and you should be able to access it at the following link to determine whether your daughter was selected. Please keep in mind that if she wasn't selected by this board that her application will be reviewed by the remaining scholarship review boards between now and April 2011 and she may still receive a scholarship. Good Luck to your daughter! :thumb:

@lbotsford, I completely understand your anxiety . I think aglages is correct though. There is still a lot of time and many wonderful and deserving applicants. Hang in there! Best of luck to you and your daughter.
