My son received his appointment package today, it came Priority Mail!

Yes, we made sure his mom was not near the ceiling fan when he opened the package and read the first word "Congratulations!"

Thanks again to everyone here who helped us with this long, slow, sometimes confusing process, especially RetNavyHM, without whose help this process would have completely overwhelmed us.

Where's the bubble wrap?

appointment

I am not even going to tell my daughter you got yours or she will be a nervous wreck all weekend waiting to see if she got hers.

We already got our mail for the day...and we didn't have a package. When was yours postmarked, and does anyone know if the USCGA will issue an intent to admit while still working on DODMERB remedials?

thanks....and congratulations!

Mike

Awesome! Did it come in a business envelope or a bigger envelope like the other SA's use? Also, when was it postmarked? Again, congrats!

Congratulations, that is awesome news. It's a day you will remember for a long time!

Luigi -

Many Congratulations to your son. I was in New London last year visiting and the CGA is an awesome place.
Is this his first choice?

Whootie Hoo Hoo Double Hoo Luigi! Great news. Stay away from all sharp objects as well. People tend to loose their minds with appointments and run with scissors & such. We all go crazy for about a week or so. Enjoy every second of it. CONGRATS

Mnolan, hang tough. Only a handful of kids will hear something before Xmas. :frown:

When was yours postmarked,

There is no postmark, it has a simple red white & blue Priority Mail sticker just above the address label.

Yes, they will.

A large heavy envelope, almost cardboard-like, the same size as the USAFA package. Also included was a catalog of courses about 160 pages long, and the official accept/decline instructions.

There is no postmark, however the appointment letter is dated December 12, 2007.

Thanks, it was what he was waiting for.

Thank you, he's a lot more excited today than he was last Friday when the USAFA appointment came, so I believe that the USCGA is his first choice.

I think that helicopters, the humanitarian mission of the USCG, and the small-school atmosphere of the USCGA appeal to him a little more than those beautiful mountains and fighter jets.

But I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time he has surprised me. ;)

Anyway, he has almost 5 months to ponder it.

He should be more excited...for obvious reasons.

Hey, who can't land on a gigantic runway? Now land on the flight deck of a 210' (smallest flightdeck in the military...tiny, and try not to take off the LSO's head).

Congrats....make the service proud!

Thanks and yes. I don't know if this is the right thread but someone else who got an appointment was posting their stats, so if anyone cares here's mine:

2090 SAT, 33 ACT, 3.96 GPA (don't know if UW or W, it's what is on my report card)
NHS, Student Council, JSA (debate), marching/jazz/indoor/pit band
Was in JROTC at my old high school
>100 hours community service
Miscellaneous leadership positions in the above
AIMster
Wrestling (JV 11th grade, Varisty this year) & Track (JV 10th & 11th grade)

I think that's about it.

Congratulations, zachogden!!!! And also to Luigi's son!!!!
You are awesome!

class of 2012

My daughter just received her conditional appointment....we have some DODMERB things to work out...maybe even a waiver, but we are hopeful.

Someone asked about stats.......
She did attend AIM
Her SAT is 800 verbal, 680 math and 630 on the writing
4.25 weighted GPA
class rank 4/525
Varsity soccer and track (team co-captain)
speech team and 4-H

We hope everything works out and we get the remedials solved. She is really looking forward to it! thanks again for everyones help. Even if I didn't ask a question directly, I could usually find the answer on this board. I don't know how people used to do it! this whole process is so new to us.

Mike (dad)

Well done - Luigi's son, zachogden and mnolan's daughter!

mnolan - I thought that I remembered there being conditional appointments last year but didn't want to say for sure - great news!!!!
