Hi everyone. Yesterday I received a letter of appointment to the United States Air Force Academy for the Class of 2015! I would like to know if anyone else received their letters of appointment, so I will start it off.

Best of luck to all candidates!

Just to clarify; did you receive:

an "Appointment"

or

a "Letter of ASSURANCE" (LOA)

A "Letter of Assurance" isn't a "Letter of Appointment". I don't want anyone to get confused when they see and hear posters mention an "LOA" and think that it's a "Letter of APPOINTMENT". An "Appointment" is the ultimate goal. An "LOA" is a (Letter of ASSURANCE), meaning that your "Appointment" is "CONDITIONAL". For air force, the condition is generally that you receive a nomination and/or pass your DODMRB. (Air Force generally doesn't give out LOA's if anything else on the application is not completed yet)

Anyway; if you received "AN APPOINTMENT"; congratulations. If you received "AN LOA (Letter of Assurance)", also congratulations. Just wanted to clarify for others reading the post.

It is a letter of appointment with the accept or decline paperwork. I completed my application and ALO interview over the summer and have a presidential nomination.

Congratulations! Your hard work and diligence has paid off.

Thank you also for your commitment to serve your nation.

WOW! Congratulations! I had no idea Letters of Appointment went out this early. I don't know if I ever remember anyone posting on this site about one so soon. That's great! No more need to mess with other college stuff.

Now, take PIMA's sound advice: place yourself in bubble wrap until June! You might need two layers since it is so early in the year!

Congrats! What an honor! Take care of yourself from here on out and be proud!

Congrats! Hopefully I will see you there! Recieved an early appointment with West Point, hopefully that is a good sign for Air Force :)

Congratulations! For at least the last few years the first admissions board met around the third week of October. I was in the same boat as you last year (completed application, presidential nomination) and recieved an appointment on 21 October, and if you look at the appointment list from last year you'll see that LOA's start going out in October too. For me at least, the hardest part was waiting 8 months until I-day! 2015...I can't wait! :yllol:

Run Faster, are you a cross country or track recruit?
scotty12,
I run both cross country and track, but currently I'm not being recruited. However I plan to talk to the coaches beforehand to see about walking on.

Remember this feeling. You want to keep it the whole time you're going through the tough stuff.

You'd be surprised how many people feel this way beforehand and end up being cynical about the academy (not just 4dig year).

Got my appointment in mail from USAFA yesterday!

However, I have decided to accept my West Point appointment instead.
(nothing against the Air Force, I just was not planning on becoming a pilot)
