I just noticed that the Military Channel is showing three one-hour segments of "Inside America's Military Academies" tonight beginning at 8 o'clock (EST) and are repeated at midnight (EST). The segments listed on the guide are:
- Surviving the First Year
- No Time Off for Summer
- The Making of an Officer

I believe this series was recommended somewhere recently in one of the threads. I haven't seen it and hope it will be worthwhile. Has anyone seen it?

I had no idea of this, so thank you for posting this! I rarely watch TV, and when I do, it's the Military Channel, History Channel, or BBC.

So I'll be watching it too at 8 tonight!

Thanks for posting this. Recording is set up for us to watch this weekend.

Should be a good addition to the National Geographic DVD series we watched awhile ago.

Watched the first episode and am taping the other two. Thought it was pretty good :thumb:

It was interesting, albeit a bit dated. It was recorded in 99, I believe. (But still a very informative and insightful documentary, nonetheless. I enjoyed it a lot)

"Surviving West Point" on DVD

If you want a super, eye-opening look at life inside Westpoint, then get the National Geographic Documentary "Surviving West Point". It is available on Amazon. If you have any doubts or think you know what it might be like, watch this.

That DVD, while well made, is verging on being hopelessly outdated. So much has changed. I see things in those videos that didn't exist anymore when I was a cadet. But it's interesting nonetheless and does offer some insight. My only caveat is that candidates should not think that the documentary reflects the current cadet experience.

Military Channel Tonight.....

Thanks so much, also there are various cable and satellite providers had opted to show CBS Sports Network for free this week. One provider VERIZON is not. They are focusing on the SA'S saluting them. My specials thanks to all of you who are currently servicing or have serviced. Including the academies and ROTC.

God bless you all and God Speed,

RGK

Tell me more scout pilot...

Please tell me more scout pilot, how has Academy life changed since "Surviving West Point" was made?

Thanks

You can also get it through Netflix.

We enjoyed watching CBS College Sports' salute to the academies last night. Last night's episode followed Jared Hassin and Andrew Rodriguez. Very well done.

Military Channel Tonight.....

Grannie,

It sure is worth it, it shows the commitment, dedication and focus these young men and women, who attend the SA's have. That's why they are best and brightest in this great country, The United States of America. I am thankful for each and everyone of them.
