I was able to secure one of my four college visit day slots from my high school to Norwich near the end of November. This will consist of a tour, lunch with a Rook, a talk with the AROTC representatives, a visit (non-official NCAA) with the wrestling coach and finally an admissions interview. Im really excited for the wrestling visit and the interview with admissions.:thumb: It is not a ROTC scholarship interview- that will come later this year or in early summer.

Having just woken up to snow this morning here in New Hampshire, I am sure that it will be cold for the visit in Northern Vermont later in the month. Any suggestions on what I should be wearing? I am used to wearing a coat and tie with khakis to school. As I am having an admissions interview and meetings with the coach who I hope to wrestle for and department chairs, I want dress appropriately If it is too cold, should I be wearing a sweater with khakis, or is a coat and tie ok? Any opinions?

Hmmm.....if you are going to have lunch with a platoon then I wouldn't advise a coat and a tie. I think the better option would be a polo and kahkis with a winter coat. Take off the winter coat for your interviews.

I strongly recommend an overnight if you can fit it in. It gives a much better representation of the school. A tour of the campus only goes so far if you know what I mean.

Hey, If you are coming here for a visit

1. Don't bother with the suit and tie, khakis with a polo, and a winter jacket, it snowed yesterday and there may be some significant by November's end.
2. Overnights may help you get a better feel, you will spend the night with a rook and shadow their platoon, by the time you get here they will be out of the gutter and more at ease so you should get more information out of them.

I can't really comment on the Army department but from my roommate who is army most of the people are very down to earth and you shouldn't have any problems, just be respectful. As for Wrestling, good luck, shouldn't be too hard to make the team if you come here/

Respectfully,

Thanks for your help:thumb:
I am going on a visit the day before Norwich begins Thanksgiving Break. is this a bad time to go? My dad travels quite a bit, so this was really the only day that works. I can't do an overnight, but maybe I can change the date. Any advice?

Well if you wanted to see the corps, I have to admit, many classes are canceled that Friday (cause teachers will do anything for an early break too) and as soon as one of us finishes our last class, many of us are gone. Admissions will still be open and giving tours of the campus, you can probably ask some questions. The Norwich Men's Ice Hockey team starts that night so if you really want to see a Norwich tradition go see hockey. Usually those games are jam packed with Cadets and spectators. I can't say it's a bad day to come up, I'll be here thanks to a flight technicality, but to see how a Rooks normal day goes an overnight would be ideal. Take what you can get, you can always visit twice!

Im going Tuesday the 23rd. Is that the day that classes are done?

Classes End on the 19th, There won't be anyone around on the 23rd
