How important are the candidate statements if you already have an LOA?

I'd say do them the same as if you didnt have an LOA. Don't slack on the candidate statements just because you have an LOA-- complete your file as soon as you can! Don't give admissions any reason, no matter how small, to take your LOA back. Every year there are a handful of people who get their LOA's snatched up because they didn't finish their file by the date that was specified.
 
Dont waste your time on the statements if you already have an LOA. Statements dont matter right now, the school already reserved a spot for you.

Do the best job you can on your candidate statements and until you climb aboard that bus on R-Day, don't take anything for granted. "West Point giveth and West Point taketh away"!!
